  1. The time has come. Who is going to throw their favorite bike off the Mansfield dam so that it will stop raining?

  2. Not sure how often @DesertNomad posts here but I just saw updates on Endura Race's FB page: https://www.facebook.com/EnduraRaceLLC/ Trail/course is marked, trails are no longer underwater, downed trees/debris have been cleared, pre-ride scheduled Sat Nov 10th @ 8am (assuming Mother Nature is cool w/ it), tons of awesome prizes from sponsors, Finisher's jersey is ready, & the Dragon Slayer is still on for Nov 18th.

  3. WARNING WILL ROBINSON.... When servicing shocks/forks.... MAKE SURE... To get all the air out... Before attempting to open. I'm speaking from experience with a FOX shock. Thankfully my head was a little to the left of the trajectory of the piece I unscrewed. And if for any reason it seems to be hard to unscrew... Chances are there's still air in it.

  6. people of ALL skill levels are welcome!!!! ......... to come dig. lol 😛 kidding! but seriously though, cat mountain is a place for experienced riders to challenge themselves and grow their skill sets. the climbs are pretty steep and sustained, the single track is narrow and often has varying degrees of exposure, lots of chunky rocky tech , off camber, plentiful *steep* sections, and a mix of drops and jumps, and a handful of expert/pro level features.. its really an awesome trail system that should be able to satisfy the desires of many different types of riders. but at the same time, cat mtn will catch you slippin' if you get comfortable and dont stay on your toes. plenty of opportunities to get in over your head if you arent careful or prepared. but with that being said I hope to see some of you guys there this Saturday and I hope the weather spares us!

  7. I have a bigger problem with the corporate welfare system in this city and state than any public works project. Besides, your assessed "value" is the biggest factor in paying too much in property taxes, and yes i live in austin. Take the good with the bad in a booming economy.........

  8. It's my personal opinion that every one of those bond packages should have a $ per taxpayer value next to it on the ballot machine. That way, people might start to figure out that it's not free money!

  10. Gotcha beat. Discovered this while riding my SS on Lakeway trails. Was wondering why it was occasionally jumping while climbing. Heavy metal deformation.

  11. there is some good stuff in there for bike trails, so hopefully we will see continued expansion and connection. With e-bikes dropping in price I predict a lot more people will be able to bike commute, especially on dedicated bike lanes that dont intersect with cars at all.

  13. I just don't get why we need bonds to get things done like maintaining our roads and public pools. Does City Council not know how to follow a budget? A lot of what we are approving bonds for seem like basic services that a city should have money budgeted for. I voted against for a bunch of stuff because I can barely afford my taxes as they are now. Quit throwing money away with corporate incentives and maybe our city would actually go back to being affordable without having forced generosity to provide affordable housing.

  14. I wipe seals clean and lube them lightly with a little fork oil on a Qtip, keeps them happy. I do this before every ride, 2 minutes well spent.

  15. FYI, if you decide to service the fork yourself get one of these to help press in the new dust wiper seals. It makes it way easier. Fork Wiper Seal Installation Press Tool

  16. The chronicle did the math on them. Basically amounted to ~$5 per home per initiative. Based on the fact that my property taxes get jacked by $800-1000 per year, even if all of the initiatives passed it would be a drop in the bucket. If we don't invest in infrastructure we'll be...um...well..exactly where we are now. I don't have an issue with this, I had an issue with prop J getting defeated. Combine Adler with no prop J and you can be assured that there will be another CodeNext and we'll all be screwed. After the last debacle I'm surprised that everyone gave the city freedom to try it again. Oh well, when it happens I don't want to hear people bitch about getting bit by the snake they nursed back to health.

  17. ****UPDATE EVERYONE***** - RIDE WILL HAPPEN WEATHER PERMITTING. IF WE ARE GETTING RAINED ON SATURDAY, WE WILL POSTPONE. there are lots of rock surfaces and lumber features that will become very slippery if ridden wet. I want everyone to have an optimal experience at cat Mtn, so lets stay tuned to the weather and go from there. hopefully the weather holds out and we dont get rain Friday or Saturday..

  19. Protecting the seals by cleaning as fontarin mentions is most important. (boots for shocks and those little front fenders for forks are good precautions as well) Checking the air spring periodically, keeping it adjusted for 20% or so of sag, is another way to reduce wear or damage from bottoming out. Then, learning how many of the shocks are pretty easy to work on sews it up in the end. If you are even slightly mechanically adept it may be only a matter of buying a seal kit and doing the work.

  21. Anybody ever checked out Live at Daryl's House? I was never a huge fan of Hall & Oates but have grown to love Daryl's soulfulness, which really comes out in the countless ad hoc collaborations he recorded at his house. I've spent hours listening to the variety of guests, including the likes of Smokey Robinson, the Ojays, Joe Walsh, and Sammy Hagar. Here's one of my favs with Dave Stewart from the Eurhythmics, whose axe looks and sounds like a work of art.

  23. With all the road biking due to wet trails, I almost upgraded my road bike. But after one ride on the trails, I'm back on track for a mountain bike upgrade
