  2. 30 years ago they were THE place to get decent quality shorts/jerseys and other items on a college student budget. That was in the days of phoning in an order and they had very good customer service. They still make decent clothes especially for those looking for the most bang for the buck. Surfing through their catalogs was how I realized the crazy markup on parts many shops had and quickly learned to do 99% of the work on my road bikes back in the mid 80’s. A Performance catalog and a copy of Zinn and the art of bike maintenance (road & mtn) saved me thousands over the years. I only went by the store here for small consumables and usually only on Tuesday for the 10% lunch time sale. That kinda cancelled out having to pay sales tax was how I’d see it. Their bike brands were a great alternative for new to the sport people that wanted something better than Wally World, but can’t afford the boutique brands most of us have migrated to. More butts on bikes is better for all of us IMO. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  3. Current forecast appears to be for less than 1/10 of an inch of rain coming tonight and clearing up by start time, albeit still cloudy for the duration of the event. Temps should be in the 50s throughout.

  5. The few times I went into either of the PB shops, they were totally void of customers and I always wondered what kept them open. I had no bad experience with them, just couldn't figure out how they stayed in business with no customers. While we're on the subject about bike shops. Another shop that I never heard talked about is Bucks Bikes. I've been in the shop on 183 a few times and the same thing, the place was empty. No bad experience for me, it's just always made me wonder since I never hear anyone mention them.

  11. I'll miss their cheap Shimano parts. I always thought the south store had a better selection of everything and was better organized and staffed. I usually walk out of the north store nifted for 1 reason or another. Obviously, I wouldn't let them touch any of my bikes.

  12. WC is fine to ride at night (people-wise). I've live close by and have been riding WC at night for well over 12 yrs now. Now that I think about it, I can't say that I've even see another PERSON (non-rider) out on the trail in all my time out there. Heck, RARELY ever see another rider out at night. That being said, probably half my night rides are at odd days/hours. Fri-Sat-Sun from 8-11:30pm are not uncommon times/days for me to be out. I've ridden all over north Austin at night and have had absolutely ZERO issues that would constitute a sketchy situation. Later, -CJB
