Back in November '16 I bit the bullet and purchased 2 sets of lights from Action LED Lights , a X2 and an X1 This was based on a lot of reading and if I recall Teamsloan mentioned the brand as a good one. Anyways bought these lights and have used ever since. Yes they are money but I believe that you get what you pay for normally and I am a fan of my house not burning down as the result of cheap Chinese batteries. So just want to mention this Action LED Lights because the lights are quality and all great but also because of the customer support. My 2 yr warranty expired Mid November '18 . About Thanksgiving time I crushed my wire somehow and my X2 setup stopped working. I shot them an email , after my warranty expired , Told them what I did and it was NOT a defect and that my lights were out of warranty. The response was a surprise since they said,, No problem, send us your light. I sent the X2 in and got it back a week later. All new wires and works even better. My point is this place did not have to go over and above like they did and they could have hosed me but stood behind their light and fixed me up. I just wanted to make mention of that since it is not necessarily the rule that companies do this but these dudes did. I'd seriously buy their product again if need be4 points

It should be fine. I'm meeting the Parks Director out there this afternoon to discuss the trail reroutes.2 points

This was his email to me in November We can probably stretch your warranty a little. ;-) The most common problem we see is a broken conductor inside the wiring harness right where it enters the light. This has been a common enough problem that Gloworm redesigned the harness to make it much more durable. Send your light in and we’ll replace the entire harness. Send the light head (with mount removed for shipping) to: Action LED Lights Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk1 point

Marin Pine Mountain B+ steel rigid bike + Yari fork for under $1K! Might need to sort out the front hub though. They had ridiculous deals on cruisers and commuter type bikes.1 point

Keep hitting "refresh" and you'll see all the info shortly. Wheels were 40-50% off, I think. Mostly road wheels from what I saw. Shoes were all 50% off I think.1 point

I've bought maybe three new bikes since my '92 Diamondback Ascent EX that I had on layaway. $450 for that bike but I might have gotten those sweet Deore LX cantis and shifters if I could've bumped it up to $550... Maybe even that PLUSH Tioga rigid fork!1 point

Hell, even at 2-3k I'd probably buy used. You can get an absolutely solid full squish bike with high mid-range components at that price. I scanned craigslist here in town real quick and see several bikes in that range with 1x12 and nice parts.1 point

At the $500 price point, I advise to get a good used bike. I also offer to help find one on CL. Though I do agree with you that $3k for a "budget" bike is tone deaf and elitist. $3k should be a bike that anyone could rock out on without falling apart. Perhaps some compromises on the quality of the suspension dampening and weight but a it should be a really good bike.1 point

Buy used. That is all https://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/list/?region=3&category=2&price=..1000&wheelsize=101 point

If I were wanting to spend 500 on a bike, I'd probably go to the used market. You can get quite a bit more if you're patient.1 point

Not sure if they are still open today, they were very near the end last week. They also had no chains at North last week, just a bunch of one off junk.1 point

In the next few weeks , the City will be starting construction on a sidewalk from the intersection of Parmer and Brushy Creek road down to the BCRT. The sidewalk walk will bisect the Peddlers Pass, but reroutes are planned for when it's finished. During construction, mountain bikes will not be allowed to cross over the construction area. I will be taping off the area. This means the trail will temporarily become two separate trails. Use the BCRT to travel between the two sections. Please respect the temporary closure and don’t cross the limits of construction. The yellow line in the picture is the approximate location of the sidewalk.1 point

1/4 Notch was ok, BIG puddles in places. Picnic had standing water in many spots. With Picnic being so wet I assumed Peddlers was still no go.1 point

Certainly not "other-worldly," but more like..."post-apocalyptic." And I largely agree with your assessment. But I have made the special trip out there several times just to ride when the Austin local trails were getting rain and SA area was not.1 point

I dont know if he would still be attached to the bike 4 days later, but he'd probably be at home talking about how awesome of a run down that stage he had. lmao but seriously though - my honest guess is that if his foot hadn't come off the pedal mid-air, he probably wouldn't have freaked out, or lost body position or his orientation and would landed that drop and finished the stage gracefully... as a matter of fact, let me ask him directly what happened and I will update this thread with his side of the story and whether he blames the pedals or not by the way everyone: I was just being cheeky with this post but holy smokes its easy to pour gas on fires around here! long live bikemojo!1 point
