  1. Just got back from a three hour ride at Brushy Creek.. Rode 23.5 miles.. https://www.strava.com/activities/2149728577 Here's what I did: Gumdrop, Snow White, and Gnargasm Peddler's Pass East Peddler's Pass West Mulligan Picnic all the way to the end Up and Over (trail opposite end of Deception) to Rim Job Rim Job out and back (was going to ride Dave's Ditch, but too wet at the top) Up Rainbow Down YMCA Up YMCA Down Rainbow Picnic to Deception bail out Up Deception Bailout to Double Down entrance 1/4 Notch backwards (I think it flows great in this direction!) BCRT back to Deception Bailout Upper Picnic east until end Peddler's West Peddler's East Gumdrop backwards Back to car at Champion Park Didn't ride Caddyshack, Dave's Ditch or Double Down. Trails were in great shape overall. A few wet or muddy spots on various trails, but the vast majority of trail was excellent. And the weather was perfect. Lots of people out there today!

  4. We did the same and more. Found Suburban ninja to round out the ride with mid ride beer at Redhorn. Best way to spend valentine's day.

  5. Perhaps my expectations were over-inflated and I was feeling pressured to speak up. At least TheSarge has had a blast contributing to it.

  7. I said it once, and I'll say it again. I think the area under Parmer would have plenty of room for skinnies/ jumps/ croc pits. I'd be willing to put up with the occasional flooding. http://www.bikemojo.com/speak/14-austin-voodoo/91060-brushy-creek-regional-singletrack-598.html#post1250590

  10. same here, they work great, and it doesn't take a large volume of air to seat.

  13. My experience is a Presta chuck is a waste of time and money. I bought one. It is too restrictive to seat even the friendliest tubeless MTB tire / rim setup. If you want to seat a tubeless tire, pull the presta valve core and use a standard Shrader tire chuck. That is the only way I have put air in fast enough to seat the tire on the rim. Yes - that means you have to put the presta valve core in with air coming out the valve stem. If you don't keep a good hold on that core, the air will blow it across the garage where it will never be found. If you let all the air out of the tire before trying to put the presta core back in the tire sometimes comes back off the rim. I have tire pump with the tank. I still have to take the presta valve core out to seat the tire. But this works at least as good as the compressor and usually a little better. But I still use both methods. YMMV

  15. Trail work crew (all 5 of us) hit Windy yesterday and worked over one corner that needed help. I will say that the amount of damage being done to the trail due to use/mis-use is not equivalent with the maintenance we are providing. Sunday was a rainy morning before the Super Bowl when nothing was rideable outside of RPR and only FIVE people showed up (including the trail steward). Does anyone have any ideas to get more people to do their part to support these trails? Here are my assumptions that might be totally off: Mountain bikers are putting in the most effort to maintain Walnut This forum represents the most involved and informed Mountain Bikers in Austin This forum has around 500 people that KNOW about work days going on every week and the damage being done to the trails The average size of the work crew is 6 or 7 people every week On average 100-200 unique riders hit Walnut every day?? (Guess) 90% of those riders are NOT on this forum or any forum that discusses trail conditions If the park said "You can't support the trails you have so we're cutting your mileage down." Would people respond?

  16. Yes, the Log Loop / Ski hill Flow (Chardog Up) / Power line Flow loop is about the only thing without problematic areas that will only be damaged more by use.
