  2. Good input. Got antsy and just pulled the trigger on this. Closeout deal at BSS made it even better. https://m.vitalmtb.com/product/guide/Bikes,3/Trek/Remedy-9-8-27-5,19227

  3. Best Meditative Ride 2019 So Far Woke up pouty this morning with dumbass foggy mist. Decided to say fuck it (cue bill oreilly .gif) and do a slick rock ranch (wet brushy) ride anyway. I decided I would stay positive and enjoy the ride no matter what since I knew the dirt should be ok (still hero). Was humid as hell but oh well...reminded me of a bit more comfortable summer morning riding towards the end when the sun was out. What’s peculiar to me is which rocks are wet and which aren’t...seems random but I’m sure it isn’t...something to do with weeping or some such shit perhaps. Anyway, Snot Rock was treacherous but Jammer was dry...I dunno. Anyway, it’s turning out to be a pretty sick day and if you can, go gobble it up!!

  4. I heard a lot of actors go by their full names because the Screen Actors Guild requires every member to have a unique name. Even if nobody has ever heard of that name, if some dude with the same name made a commercial and became a member of the SAG, it's taken. One prime example, "Michael Fox" was taken so he added the J. Then tried to go back to the future to meet and kill the original Michael Fox. Fortunately for that original "MF"er, he turned into a werewolf and played a basketball game instead. True story.

  8. he sure as hell did man. and at RPR, he made it really far up a rock slab after an impressive trials bunny hop over a boulder that we were all seasoning riding down that I otherwise wouldve thought was rather impossible. super cool dude, excellent and talented rider. humbling to ride with a guy like that for sure! anyone could learn a lot from him!

  10. I would love to help at Brushy Creek. So many of the work days are not announced and done by a small group of people. I'm not in that group. I'd love to help with designing new trail, troubleshooting existing trail, drainage issues, flow issues, etc. The workdays I hear about are calls for people to help build berms; my skills are not necessarily needed for that, though many of us on a Tuesday evening earlier this month worked on berms on the Windy Trail at WC. I showed up once for a workday at BC several years ago when Randy Bell was coming out to look at some issues. Before he came, I mentioned that some of the tree branches were not cut at the shoulder and are a risk for riders so I started trimming them back. I was told it wasn't a priority. Then Randy showed up and mentioned the same thing. I felt like my help was not wanted due to this and other things that day.

  12. I don't care what they say about you Seth...your videos are fun as hell to watch. You show the crashes and the random shit that really make a bike trip memorable. Good on ya man.

  13. You can be called anything you want. But do you want to? https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GunmanWithThreeNames Talk to James Earl Ray. Or maybe James Earl Jones. Or David Allen Coe. Or maybe John Henry Booth. Or maybe J Edgar Hoover. But if you really want to be "special" talk to George Herbert Walker Bush. Not many people have 4 names. I think a lot IT guys head would explode with four names. Or better yet, look at how the Spanish language works with names. I have seen some with 8 to 10 names. Speaking of names. There are some names that raise eyebrows when used as a last name. Now days Weed is one of them. But my favorite was a person who decided to hyphenate when she got married. (I am changing the first name to protect the real person.) Susie Johnson-Hunter is what she became. Yes this was back when "you don't have to call me Johnson" was a thing. It was all I could do to keep a straight face when I heard that one.

  15. I thought Hermosa was okay but the most epic ride we did in the area was Engineer Mountain. Thumbs up for Alien Run. There is also some fun stuff in Farmington.

  16. As I continue my research, one bike that is sort of sticking out as a wild card for me is the Transition Scout. While not in the enduro/all-mountain class that other bikes being discussed are in, it appears to be much burlier than it's 130mm travel might otherwise imply. And with the slack HTA and 150mm fork, I'm pretty sure it could handle whatever Spider / Cat could throw at it. The short chainstay provides the added bonus of playfulness, easier to manual, etc, and the price point is spot on. The other bike I've added to my list to check out is the Pivot Mach 5.5. Part of my criteria, which probably seems silly to most folks, is that the bike has to have straight lines and an open front triangle. I just think aesthetically those characteristics give bikes a sportier, cleaner look. For that reason all of the bikes I'm looking at have trunnion mounted shock or shock directly under the top tube. Definitely narrows the list, but there are still plenty of top contenders to choose from.

  20. The last few times either coming or going from Durango/Cortez area, we used New Mexico Hwy 550 from Bernalillo to Aztec. Nice wide highway and super fast, even though NM speed limits are on the lower side. Hwy 550 goes right by the turn off to the White Mesa trails; as you go through Aztec, you can hit the Alien Run trails.

  22. I really think this would be a great reason to get a GG smash or Megatrail with intentions for spider mountain, and having the ability to have any of their bikes that you want with the modular front triangle and interchangeable seat stay kits. 145-170 range would be great for spider mountain, DH bike isnt necessary

  24. Phil's World is worth it. Plus Cotez has a good bike shop and a beer/burger bar downtown. If driving up through NM and need a little side piece, White Mesa outside of Zia Pueblo is an entertaining ride.

  25. Phil's World is a hoot, and from there you can see a Sleeping Ute. Definitely worth the stop if you are in Cortez. The Rib Cage increases in fun factor on each subsequent pass.
