More flowery than bikey: A speaking of the Veloway, LaCrosse was jammed packed with parked cars. The Wildflower Center is going gangbusters.4 points

I finally hit that big rock going E-W - cleared it on my first try. Don't think I carry enough momentum to clear it from the other direction but may give it a try one of these days.4 points

That's awesome. Minor, minor critique...If I knew nothing about Austin mountain biking I would get the sense from this video that our mountain biking scene was fledgling at best and was really only jumpstarted by TTP and FR512. Meanwhile ARR and TMBRA have been going strong for decades. Sure, I get that this is more focused on the gravity fed, enduro style riding and not the overall MTB scene/industry here. But dang, with JKW's skillset I would think he'd love BCGB, Brushy, and the other unmentionables in view of Cat MT and be impressed by how long they've been around and how well used they are. Let alone all the other trails in TX. Just my .02 -sorry, very loyal texan here and I get a bit overly sensitive when people dismiss our MTB scene..."You don't even have mountains!" Seriously cool video though.2 points

There is a trail that connects Firehouse to that South Bay Lane crossover. That will allow you to get to LaCrosse on the east side of Mopac if you are northbound on Firehouse and wanting to get to the top of Terminus.2 points

https://www.bartonspringsbikerental.com/ Across Barton Springs Rd from Baby Acapulco. They have a lovely video of them sending customers out into the street with no helmets. ps mcfly, your Barton Springs pool scenery discussion is worthless without pictures by the way.1 point

I rode that drop last night for the first time. It’s fun but I think flowing over the berms is more fun. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Putting a big boulder at the top of a ledge next to a trail is just daring a bunch of high school kids to try and push it over the edge. In my view, there are a lot better drops out there that don’t present this level of conflict. I have no problem if it were be closed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Sorry.. What I meant is that where your bike is pictured is an example of that area being dangerous. I didn't mean to imply that the fact your ride was right there was in and of itself was bad. It is not of course. But the spot it represents is potentially nasty.1 point

I certainly would have heard someone coming from the other direction. I personally never approach from that direction since the arrows at the fork before that indicate to go to the right. Which in my photo you'd be coming from the trail entering from the right. Not that people look at or care about what signs say. 😄 Also, this was in the middle of the day on a weekday. Not that many people out there. Might have been more suicidal on a weekend or evening. ..Al1 point

My bike is not directly on the trail, unless you are aiming for the tree or you're blind as a bat. I was standing there and had a clear view if anyone was approaching. The bike was only there briefly so I could take that shot.1 point

Exactly! That is why where his bike is pictured is so dangerous Man .. I can't believe I am being that person. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk1 point

Yeah. I ride down those roots 100% of the time. I'd never noticed the drop in question!1 point

It's silly big. On the old MoJo I think there is a video of AJ jumping it. It's funny seeing the fear of death in his face as he does it Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk1 point

ATX Bikes will be starting it's new rental operation this coming week with all new Giant models. ATX Bikes is located on the South Austin Trail Network (SATN). It is literally at their back door. The SATN has 85 miles of flowy and fast trails with small sections of techy stuff scattered about.1 point

Like I said, very minor criticism. I wasn’t expecting JKW to hit everything in town. In fact I liked that he focused just those two trail systems. It just seemed like the vibe was “look at these guys trying to bring mountain biking to TX” instead of “Look at these guys progressing the already strong mountain bike scene here in TX”. Seth seemed to acknowledge the already strong mountain biking scene in his vid if I remember. Anyway, I was grumpy and jealous that y’all got to ride with him so I had to whine about something. So did any of y’all get to test ride that Trust fork? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Seth pointed out the strong Austin mtb community and mentioned that RPR and Cat Mtn are not the only trails in town. I think JKW came to town looking for something that would make a good video and he found it. We have easily over 100 miles of trails in and around Austin that make great rides but trying to edit that into a video with a couple days worth of riding that showcases this guys talent would be tough. Seth and the Trail Party guys took a mountain bike celebrity to sanctioned trails on private land and showed him that Austin has incredible riding 15 minutes from downtown. I'm sure they could have found some great features on the green belt that he would have loved but then all HELL would have broken loose. They did it right IMO.1 point

I scoped it out yesterday going W-E but didn't attempt it. That little step up on the original line there has actually gotten a bit tricky over the past year with the erosion. Heading back out now to see what kind of trouble I can get myself into!1 point

I did the same thing with a revelation. 450 all in and I had myself a charger damper pike. Not too shabby.1 point

It's a fun rock crawl. I certainly have no interest in jumping off the thing. I used to roll over it blind each time coming from the backside direction. But last June I started finding the rock placement unpredictable. I rolled up to find the main backside rock rolled out more than 12" as shown. I just pulled back and somehow managed roll it out without breaking my wheels nor my no OTB rule.1 point

It isn't the approach that get's me, it's the run out. It's a scree field with a few trees waiting to catch you.1 point
