  1. And... E-bike hate thread commences! This is my purpose in life, to make every conversation about e-mtbs and why they suck.

  2. I avoid that store. It's like being a kid Ina candy store, but all the candy is really expensive! Fun to see all the new stuff though, and remember that I have a bike at home that is way cooler, because it's mine. Clarification on e-bikes: are they selling dozens of commuter e-bikes, or e-mtbs? I am all for e-bikes for transportation, but I don't see e-mtbs on the trails yet. If I do, I'll be sure to point and laugh.

  3. My OneWheel and MTB both live in harmony. I've yet to ride the OW on the trails though. Looks like tons of fun. I fractured my shoulder on mine a few years ago when it nosed dived at 20mph on me. It definitely takes skill to ride these on anything but flat ground.

  5. Without rehashing everything that has been said recently - my fading memory says this sign was discussed publicly long before it was made or posted. Just like any other volunteer effort, some people liked it, some people hated it but most thought any such sign was a step in the right direction. Just like there will never be complete agreement on trails, trail features, trail difficulty, A thru Z lines, rideable / too wet, etc. there will never be complete agreement on what should be on a sign. A lot of people have put a *LOT* of personal time, energy and money into making some great trails. It amazes me how other people complain about a few peoples' efforts. Some people think that if someone does not contribute to the effort, they don't get a say. My personal opinion is all inputs are welcome. Some will turn into truly great improvements I may not have seen. But most outside suggestions will get filed with all of the other outside suggestions/complaints. So don't expect every suggestion/complaint to be treated as gospel.

  6. Ridenfool has been to MANY work days in the past. Now days I think he does most of his trail work close to his current home.

  8. I don't mind e-bikes but wouldn't want it to be my only bike for sure. Rather just when I want an easy day but still do a MTB ride on technical trail. I see them more having a place for those who have been injured and still want to ride with their friends/significant others. Can't train because of some issue like foot, knee, or back but still want to ride with friends and not slow them down? That's kind of where I see e-bikes being best.

  10. I really expected more rain, so I didn't pack up. I'll ride from home, albeit a little later than usual. But I'll certainly make a 5:30 roll out and probably some pre-gamer miles as well.

  11. My impression is that they're selling tons of commuter bikes. I went to the Guadalupe store for a shop ride and there were 12 people waiting to go on a hosted e-bike ride (rental Comos and Vados). Those are a lot cheaper than the e-MTB bikes. I'm thinking about one of those for myself.

  12. I plan to be there ~4 for some early riding. I'll post up conditions, but if there is sun by noon you best be on your way there because it looks like the rain missed most of the city (.07" in Rosedale), it is all up to the north. Betting the GB is even better, only .09" in the past 24 hours. Everyone south of Willco should be on their bikes today 😉

  13. Rain is done for the day. According to the local weather station they received .15" of rain. Sun should be out this afternoon. It will be humid. But it should be hero dirt. I plan to be there riding.

  14. I hiked up on a couple rattlers on the Good Water Trail, on the high ridge between Sawyer and Tejas, this weekend. One was a 4’ big fat boy the other a small baby. The big one was pissed, he assumed the strike pose and was rattling loud, while the little one was really chill, no rattle. Funny story...I was hiking with my daughter, we came up on the big one first, I cleared it from the trail...with a big stick lol. I told my daughter as we walked off, if you’re going to hike the Appalachian Trail next year you need to learn how to clear rattle snakes safely. So not even 15 min later we come up on the little one. And true to her word she found a really long stick and got it off the trail. Super proud of my little one....

  18. The rogue 7” rake hoe tool looks good, the only reservation I would have is the points on the rake side are squared, normally they are pointed which helps to dig through our rocky soils and still can be used as a rake. The squared points might make it difficult to dig with.

  19. When I saw the sign here, my eyes were drawn to the “turn back now”. That in itself would make me stop and read the sign.

  20. I've only ridden Brushy once, and, yes, I did some trail work on that ride. Throet will vouch for me. If you've ever ridden Rocky Hill, you will likely have ridden on trails I created there. Ever ridden Pace Bend? I spent a lot of time helping build out there. Reveille Peak? Many a weekend building the original trails. Slaughter? I helped build, but have never been back to ride them, yet. Bluff Creek Ranch, yep, I've done work out there too. Others may remember more places I've volunteered on trails over the years that I've forgotten. To answer your question, no, I haven't driven the hour-plus from Fayette County to attend any work days at Brushy. Not yet anyway. Some day I might. Just pointing out how that sign leans more toward being a challenge to ass-hats, Some might get it, others might flip it off and go do what they want. But do whatever you feel serves you best. If you like constantly erasing B-lines and all the other complaints I read here, this might be better than nothing, IMHO, as it currently reads, I think that sign will fall short of rendering the desired effect. Maybe I'm mistaken. Time will tell. If your goal is to get other riders who are local and clearly willing to work more involved with organized trail building and maintenance, it might be of benefit to offer them an invite.

  21. How many pages should said sign be? Ha. Anyways cant please everyone. Already got complaints from others about various other things like fonts and too many words. Sorry it didnt meet your needs too. But I get what you mean as well. not sure that saying people work hard on this for free would change an assholes mindset. Shit maybe none of this will. But there were already so many words on it. Anyone angry enough or interested enough will give the email a go. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

  23. The dirt last night was like FirstBlood in a gay club...HOOKIN UP! I would love to extend a huge cyber hug to whomever put up the sign at the East end of Rimjob. I love it! I can’t speak to putting nails in trees but preliminary google search says no serious harm. I didn’t ride Deception to see if the signs were put there as well but they certainly apply. 👏🏼
