  1. A few years ago descending into the canyon before Mt Lakeway I had one cross the trail about 20 yds in front of me. When I first saw it i though to myself "that is a REALLY big deer" then when it fully entered the trail and I saw its tail I registered what it was. It slowed down to look at me but thankfully kept going down into the canyon. for some reason I kept looking all around me the rest of the ride...

  3. Hit trails at 10 AM today. Absolutely perfect timing. It wasn’t too hot yet and the humidity had been baked off by that point.

  4. I saw one in Laredo once, and I felt like I had a UFO sighting! No one believed me and kept telling me it had to have been a large bobcat!

  5. Just wait 'till it attacks a Hippo. Then they'll get serious about tracking it.

  8. So I’ve been following this trend called “coffee outside” around the world. Essentially people on bikes gather at a location they choose once a month, bringing coffee making supplies or a thermos, donuts, kolaches, whatever, and just check out each other’s bikes and shoot the shit for an hour or two. Usually on a weekend. Usually starting at 7-8am. I’m wondering if you guys would have interest in this? It just gives a chance to ride bikes to some Brush Creek location to have coffee and breakfast with like minded people. After it’s established a bit we could branch out to other MTB trail areas like walnut and the green belt with adequate preparation. While this is a heavy MTB group on here, all bikes are welcome and I’d say even encouraged. It would be fun to learn and laugh about your frankenbike. If this gains some traction I’ll organize it and get things rolling maybe for a Saturday or Sunday later this month.

  9. Who doesn’t love a good trail brew? The jet boil system can supposedly get water boiling in 100 seconds. Pack an Aeropress along and you’re all set.

  10. Red Horn with Suburban Ninja right behind it would be the perfect place for something like this being able to provide pre and post ride refreshments.

  11. I’ve been using Peddlers pass as a way to build up my peddling strength and riding stamina. I’ve come to love that trail as an intermediate rider. The faster you go, the more fun it gets. But it wasn’t until I took my kids on this trail that I truly saw the beauty of it. It’s like the perfect gateway drug into mountain biking. Easy enough to do slowly, with a few minor “technical” sections that challenge beginners, and features that build skills. My 9 year old ran it for his 3rd time today and since I’m helping the 6 year old out, I told the older one to go ahead and run the trail without waiting up for us. He said he had 2 moments where he almost fell, but was able to just step off the pedals. Other than water breaks he said he was able to run the whole thing without walking his bike. They want to ride peddlers pass every day now.
