  1. At risk of sounding like a broken record, you would not have to wait all the time and spend all that money if you do it yourself. Bring some dark beer by my house and I'll walk you through it.

  2. Pardon my mediocre riding ability and inability to get tons of air. Still working on those things. 😅 But had a blast at the bike park and can’t wait to go again. There’s footage of the new trails in there. I think I rode everything except for the double black.

  3. ive had great experiences with https://traillabs.com in Missouri. straight forward pricing, fast turn around times, and factory level full services and rebuilds. I would recommend them to anyone

  4. Since we rarely have rideable conditions that you could call "muddy," service schedule is not as crucial. Muddy stanchions are bad news! I've seen fancy Fox Kashima stanchions scratched to hell because the rider didn't clean his fork and rode with dirty seals. I've also seen some forks that had to be replaced outright due to neglect. Regardless of how important longevity is, dropping the lowers, cleaning the wipers, and reassembling with fresh bath oil should be done every 6-12 months around here just to keep the fork smooth. That basic service is darn easy to do with really basic tools. It just sounds scary because there are fluids involved. It's easier than bleeding brakes. I can do my fork in about 20 minutes so it's not that hard. I know shocks are even easier but as a hardtail guy, I've never had to do one.

  5. I'm just glad Sky Ineos didn't win in the first week. It's been nice to have a reason to watch each day to see what's happened. What happened to Froome is terrible but it has been more exciting to watch.

  7. Did some riding in CA a couple weeks ago...gravel biking in the Sequoia National Forest. One of my rides was in 100*F weather, with 9% humidity. At 5000-7000 feet above seal level. It was so much easier than a similar ride in ATX would have been. I had a 7 mile climb @ 4.4% and a 1.8 mile climb @ 6.5 % during that ride, and although I stopped to take breaks a few times and didn't exactly fly up those climbs, I didn't feel like I was going to die. It was kinda weird. -cls

  8. The music is fine. If you like it - use it. If someone does not like it - they can mute or not watch.

  9. OK so not a fruit at all, and since we have oaks, this seems to fit. http://isatexas.com/tree_pests/eastern-speckled-oak-gall/

  10. Wow, that is some awesome footage. I know there is bad GoPro effect, in terms of making hard things look totally doable. Nice riding!

  11. My two hardtails have 130mm forks. The pike on my geared bike is a 35mm, the Fox factory on my singlespeed is a 34. Personally the 34 is fine for the hardtail, and would also be fine on my full suspension based on the way I ride. Considering your size, I'd say a 34 is more than enough. Take a look at some of the take off options. If you get a new enough model the probability of abuse is greatly diminished. I bought a used fork from Seth, so you'd expect a high abuse factor but it was fine 😉

  12. I think you have a point about shortening the stages, especially the sprint ones. The peloton cruises along until about 10 K to go and then starts racing. Maybe have 25 K sprint stages where everyone can go all out.

  14. Nice! also a meh rider. this was my third trip. new stuff was very loose, and I couldn't find the magic speed to not make it a beating, so it didn't make the video. probably won't be back til they get some rain. fun place, tho. sorry about the music. it seems to be frowned upon, here.

  16. Speaking of hot, the long-range forecast for next week isn't. High of 87 on Tuesday (July 22) with a low of 71 followed by a few days of highs in the 90-ish range, with some rain (or not).

  18. Not me! I only pay taxes because the alternative is risk of imprisonment! I have no expectation of what any government entity will do with my tax money or I would drive myself crazy being pissed off!
