  2. +1 Same here. In my case I had spokes that were too long. ARGHH! I had one of those fail on the trail. As a matter of fact, it happened to be in the SATN. I went to add air, and it just ripped off. I'm very good about not putting a lot of force on the stems when I have to pump them up with the compact pump. On analysis once I got home, you can see the stem is super thin, and made of aluminum, so it's very weak. I have stuck with the standard Stan's stems since then.

  3. Yep, one comforting thing about RA being in front of his computer is, at least he’s not out modifying trail that he didn’t cut!

  6. Honestly they aren't as expensive as I would have guessed. $40 for a pair. I would've guessed $80+. On the other hand, considering I use homemade sealant, gorilla tape, and valves cut out of old tubes, I'm probably not going to spring for Ti valve stems anytime soon.

  11. We were trying to decide whether we could include this in our trip to Bentonville in May, but it's just not going to be practical given our time constraints... Let us know what you think after your trip.

  12. Oh, I forgot to mention that my recycled stems cut from old tubes also have replaceable gaskets, because they are made from teflon tape.

  13. Monkey See Monkey Do on South Congress (love this store!) has fun "pencil toppers" for a few cents each. You can glue a pesta cap inside one and put it on your bike. My mtb has a zombie and the CX bike has a chrome skull with red eyes I made this way.

  14. To buy spokes, I'd recommend the additional cost of double-butted spokes. There should be an eBay seller called childhood_dreams that sells spokes at reasonable prices. You could also call Dan's Competition about spokes. I've always used the calculator of Sheldon's site.

  15. I bought some American Classic valve stems. Superior design, uses o-rings, flange on the inside so you can't rip the rubber gasket off. Much cheaper that the titanium ones above. Aluminum is certainly strong enough for this application. https://amclassic.com/index.php/tubeless-parts/tubeless-valve-pair.html

  16. Derail- before you buy spokes, measure your rim ERD yourself. Measure 3 times to be certain. Measure the hubs yourself. Use a spoke calculator of course, but don't trust manufacturer claims about size. (I have been burned when I calculated spoke length for some WTB rims and the spokes came up 2mm too short. WTBs rim dimensions were off and WTB confirmed that their data was wrong.)

  19. As usual, RA posts a link with no real commentary, and then goes off and plays on his Nintendo for a while. "Thought it might be a good start for a thread" - why not tell us which wheelset you are considering trying them on, etc? Bear in mind I have you blocked, so I'll look tomorrow for this:
