  1. Yes. Getting ready to transition to whiskey and maybe a good movie. Too wet out for practicing wheelies.

  3. Since I had to see the doctor back in Jan to start carefully monitoring my blood glucose again, my health insurance, Anthem, offered me a free 12-mo diabetes prevention program. I had already lost 13lbs at the time and was back in control of my diet, but since the program included a free wi-fi scale and FitBit, I figured what the heck. It's completely digital (YesHealth App) and you're encouraged to log all of your meals and activities. A team of dieticians and health coaches review all of your meals and activities, grading you along the way. I'm getting a lot of great guidance, and have my scale and Fitbit connected to the App now. Pretty cool arrangement but best suited for people who really need constant feedback and encouragement. I suppose for me there is also an aspect of "somebody's watching me" that has me wanting to compete and prove myself. I'm now down to around 178 from the 201 I was at mid-Jan. I'll be bumping my calories and beer intake up some to keep from getting too skinny. My wife sort of misses her big fella.

  4. I just pulled the trigger on a 27.5+ steel gravel/adventure bike. Going to outfit it with a 110mm fox 32 and hit just about any trails out there.

  11. My wife and mine's biggest decision each day now is what we will be drinking today. Is it a beer day? A wine day? Or let's just do cocktails. Decisions decisions.

  13. I am weird, in order to stave off things like Alzheimer's and whatnot I've changed my life. One of the big things is fasting, which means 2 meals a day. One at ~10am and one ~4PM. So, happy hour is always about 2 or 3 every day. Every day.

  15. I thought this afternoon might be a good time to return a library book (Trump and His Generals), because it's a nice ride on the Northern Walnut Creek Multi-Use Path to the library on Amherst and it had stopped raining. The libraries are all closed but book drop, right? Lots of folks on the path but not crowded. I took a raincoat. The library is closed closed. The book drops are taped shut with signs about NOT trying to open them or push the doors open and for heaven's sake don't leave your damn books by the door or under the book drop. So...closed. Really closed. Shut. Austin Public Library is also forgiving fines and extending checked out books for a month. I was almost to the Metric bridge coming home and it started barely sprinkling, and continued to sprinkle, but really cooling off and looking ominous. Put on the raincoat, same all the way home. Got the garage door closed, went in the house and now it's pouring, dark outside and thunder rumbling in the distance. Cozy. Partly read: Wayfinding: The Science and Mystery of How Humans Navigate the World On deck: Dark Towers: Deutsche Bank, Donald Trump, and an Epic Tale of Destruction Endure: Mind, Body, and the Curiously Elastic Limits of Human Performance The Emerald Mile: The Epic Story of the Fastest Ride in History Through the Heart of the Grand Canyon Kevin Fedarko is an amazing writer so I don't quite understand why it's taken 3.5 years to work my way through his book, but this is a good time to wrap it up.

  16. Heads up for anyone in South Austin or Hays county. Proof Liquor & Deli is now doing curbside. You have to call and run your card over the phone but, after that you pull up and they'll put the stuff in your car/truck. They are doing food orders to go and through doordash, and seem to be pretty strict on contact and distancing so they are already ahead of Spec's. Speaking of which, Austin stores are no longer doing curbside. Keep it local http://www.proofliquoranddeli.com/ https://www.instagram.com/proofliquoranddeli/ https://www.facebook.com/proofliquordeli

  17. If you have the receipt, try it anyway. Back in 2013 I noticed a crack on my '01 Stumpjumper FSR that I bought new back in AZ; BSS did the warranty process for me and Specialized sent me a new 2013 Stumpjumper frame. There was a brief period that their frames had 5 year warranty (or was it 10?), but when they returned to lifetime they included frames made during the short warranty period.

  19. Bored+ nothing else to do. I was going to build one of those goofy "manual machine" contraptions, then realized the unused trainer in my house will do the same thing. I think I can hold 30 seconds now.

  22. And my suggestion for the official 2020 theme song. I think the 2 Bash & Pop albums are my favorite CDs from the past few years. One of the guys is Tommy Stinson from The Replacements and the stuff sounds like what the 'mats would sound like if they were still playing now and Paul was vaguely sober from time to time.
