  2. No pic, so used google: Oddside Derby Days is REALLY good. A bit boozy, but I like it that way. Nice spicy rye notes. Glad I have 3 more! The only weird thing though, was I could find only info about Derby Days (postponed). Not sure what the difference is, but my cans are like the pic, without the POSTPONED in red across the middle.

  4. So started this a month or two ago. The SO wanted a live edge floating shelf. After keeping my eye open for the appropriate piece of wood, for several months, finally found a guy out near Hutto how sels them. Went out on Saturday afternoon, found this nice piece of ash. Finally finished it up last night and installed it. Turned out pretty good, if I do say so myself. And the SO is super happy with it! The plan is to make two smaller shelfs with the remaining wood, and mount them bellow and off to the sides of the larger shelf.

  5. I can also attest to the Apple Watch/iCloud solution to tracking and fall detection to be effective. I've never had it mistakenly call 911 on me, but it worked just as intended when I fell at Crystal Falls. I was okay, so I cancelled the 911 call. But it did buzz at me while I was laying there with a message like, "It looks like you've had a fall. Please respond." followed by a count down timer. I tapped the respond button which then asked for clarification with the following replies: "I didn't fall.", "I did fall, but I'm fine.", and something like "I did fall, but I'm hurt." I indicated that I had fallen but was okay and it went back to recording my strava workout. My wife just uses the "Find My" feature in iCloud as I'm fine with her knowing where I am at all times. I got nothing to hide. But the beacon feature on Strava would be helpful for things like the EB or group trips where the group breaks up to hit separate trails. I've been very happy with the accuracy of my strava rides since getting the Apple Watch and using the watch app.

  6. It is a great seafood dive! I guess I never look past the raw oysters and crawfish etoufee long enough to see anything else. Need to broaden my horizons!

  10. Unrelated to your chain tensioner situation but I had something happen at Walnut that had never happened in my ~25 years or riding in Austin. I got a small rock in my chain. It stuck in and the chain jammed on a back pulley. I thought it was a stick because I could not pedal. Spent a few minutes looking at my chain trying to figure out what was happening. Could not see the rock, just that the chain would not move and pulled the whole derailleur when I put force on it. Weird.

  12. Too much technology for me. I have a Timex watch that tells time just fine. I was in town a few weeks back but you were on your vision quest.

  15. When my wife had her fall walking the dogs, her Apple Watch sent me a text and dialed 911. It was a life saver.

  16. yes, I forgot that besides all the data that I use to depress myself, I use Beacon. My wife appreciates it. Although, she has called me before and asked if I was dead or just stopped BS'ing with some friends on the trail. Thankfully it was the latter. Maybe Strava should combine the beacon with HR monitor, and if they both stop, it dials the coroner?

  17. I was looking for a picture on my laptop when I ran into this old picture (ca. 8/16/2011) of my TrueFabrication gravel grinder waiting for pedals, black seatpost clamp, and bar tape. I had to share it because of the background. Long live Hammerhead bikes!

  18. I would argue that mid-height makes it look like the bike is for a short rider who bought an over sized bike. My fender says enduro bro anyway. 😛
