Finally got some people interested to build something on a property on the east side. They build every wednesday at 4pm https://www.facebook.com/groups/402159814477253 Also have a fundraiser going https://www.facebook.com/donate/426085145044424 east_austin_bike_park We are fortunate enough to have a land owner benefactor dedicated to making sure Austin has a progressive skills park. He has committed to match $3000.00. Not one single penny will ever go to those of us working. This is strictly a volunteer based project. All funds will go towards the following: (2) Shipping Containers, lumber and metal for platforms, railing, lips, and skid steer rentals. If any local business’ are looking to sponsor a feature or line, we would love to chat with them on the phone.5 points

Great thread! Here's my oldest at 5 last fall. Shortly after this ride she decided her helmet didn't feel right so she's barely ridden her bike since.2 points

Rode almost 6 miles today with my 6yo. Started at Fern Bluff El. Rode down the stone canyon rough descent, then along the BCRT to Ankle biter. Walked the beginning with her and rode the rest. Then back to the BCRT at Champion and up the dam (walked a bit) and then played in the creek next to Mulligan. Had my wife pick us up from the skate park (as planned).2 points

Ok, once again my little dude surprised me today. We were heading to Brushy to ride and when we get there he discovered he forgot his helmet and Camelbak at home. So we turned around and headed back the house. Once home, he talks me into changing bikes and riding over to the WC pump track to play around. I escort him over there, get him situated and then take off for a short lap of Windy/Servere/BMX. When I get back he said he's got something to show me.....holy cr@p! I sorta panicked inside when I first saw him hit this jump!2 points

That's where the arguments are going to happen. Early morning people will want standard time, everyone else will want DST. I say just have a vote and whichever one wins, keep it.1 point

Her speed has steadily increased. Following her on single-track used to be a 1st/2nd gear crawl for me. By the end of our ride yesterday I realized I was actually going at a casual pace and sometimes even falling behind, awesome to see progress!1 point

Trent Reznor later said of that song, "I realized it wasn't really my song anymore. It just gave me goose bumps up and down my spine. It's an unbelievably powerful piece of work. After he passed away I remember feeling saddened, but being honored to have framed the end of his life in something that is very tasteful."1 point

His voice reminds me of when Johnny Cash's voice was noticeably older sounding when he did the work with Rick Rubin and during his American album series , Sad but awesome Yes I know he is 871 point

Life360 alerted my wife when I had the close encounter with a truck. It also alerts when "hard acceleration detected" when driving...but she knows that's par for the course for me.1 point

...Then Northpark in Allison Park, PA (northern Pittsburgh) They have a fun little skills park there and my 6 year old without warning said he wanted to hit "The Drop Line" and dropped in. It's a run with progressively larger drops mostly to flat with the first one being about a 1.5' drop. He STOMPED the first one and I couldn't believe it. He decided (wisely) not to continue with the larger drops, but I was super proud. My 8 year old surprised me on how good he has gotten on climbs. He just settles in to a groove and scrambles up and over rocks and roots to calmly wait for his brother and I at the top. Great days on bikes!1 point

My turn. Here's my 13.5 year old. I didn't teach him anything. If anything, he is teaching me a proper J-hop (even got flat pedals for my bike): Here is the dismount: He also saved up and bought that bike himself. (I bought him his mountain bike.) I highly recommend getting a proper BMX bike for your kids if they do a lot of jumps and such around the neighborhood. They are much more stout than a MTB. You'll save money on tubes, tires, wheels, gears, etc. I think we've done quite a bit of Brushy including 1/4, Snow White and of course his favorites picnic (he does the drops) and Peddlers.1 point
