The Lauf fork is due Friday. The bike is all apart, and I'm really tempted to prep it and shoot a fancy kandy color on it.2 points

100% this. Not everyone wants to populate spreadsheets for a living. Spent years in and out of those machine shops and learned so much. Watched guys melt down old pistons to fill into cylinder heads that were damaged from dropped valves etc. The guy that taught me used to weld magnesium😎. Can still smell the naphtha lol.2 points

Ok, I'm still pretty rattled by this. Today I decided to do my annual Walnut Creek ride. of course that was a bad idea to do it on a holiday (Veterans Day) so walkers, riders, dogs on leash, dogs off leash, etc...everywhere, but I still managed to dodge them all. Then as I came down and crossed at the main creek crossing, there it was!!! I was confronted by the biggest, nastiest Camel Toe I've ever seen in my life...I pedaled as hard as I could to try and get away...it was hideous!! I'm thinking about selling my bike after that2 points

How often are you guys losing or breaking glasses on the trail? Ok, I can see taking them off when you stop for a snack and riding off without them, but even then, I think I'd notice in enough time to ride back to the last place I stopped. As far as breaking, they are on your face. Last time something on my face broke in a crash, it was my teeth, and they were NOT cheap to replace. I am a certified cheap-ass (which is why I don't wear $250 Oakleys), but $50 to see the trail better? That's something I'm willing to pay for.1 point

I probably still have a 40+ year old Binks Model 18 that I shot a LOT of Ditzler through. Many Corvettes, Camaros, etc.1 point

That detail is incredible. I probably would have gone with an LED, but the classic incandescent GE 120V really works in this case. Well done.1 point

Move all forums to the MTB forum and rename it "forum". It's not like this forum gets an overwhelming amount of posts that need to be filtered down to a specific surface.1 point

I've got an Iwata Supernova and an Evotech along with two Devilbiss Tekna coppers that I currently use. Plus a bunch of older guns that are basically outdated for todays urethanes. The Supernova is an awesome clear gun.1 point

Roadiephobics. The more you complain the more I think you’re a closeted roadie. all riding is cool.1 point

Based on what I've seen, you should just leave your used tubes in the trees along the trail.1 point

I'll just stick to the various FB groups which thankfully are gravel-specific. I refuse to discuss gravel riding in a roadie forum!1 point

I have some Tifosi glasses and really like them. They have 4 sets of lens, although I mostly use the amber ones for riding. I would put them in a midrange price category, but they are pretty damn cheap compared to Oakleys or other high end glasses. For me, the most important feature of a pair of riding glasses is staying in place on my nose when bouncing through the rough (which cheap safety glasses definitely do not). My Tifosi's have pliable earpieces, so I can really lock in the fit. Fog control I guess would be second, but I've had really nice Smith glass that claimed to be anti-fog that really sucked and cheap ones that were ok. I'd also consider some of these shield-type Blenders for riding. I have casual pair of Blenders and have been impressed for the price. I won't ride in mine because they slide down my nose, but the shield-type have rubberized nose pieces. My friend has some of these and they feel pretty nice. https://www.blenderseyewear.com/collections/mens-new-arrivals/products/bold-victory1 point

I 100% agree that the hoods is a terrible place for your hands on anything technical. Shimano did some research and concluded that most folks were riding trail on the hoods (for some reason) and designed GRX to work better from the hoods. But even with that, I basically ride totally in the drops on trail. Hell, even fast smooth singletrack (Inner Log and .6, for example) get ridden in the drops. On gravel and roads I'd say I'm 90% on the hoods.1 point
