  2. Finally got the build done! The stock weight was 30.3lbs. We got it down to 25lbs. We also are waiting on the hot pink pedals to show up!

  4. Got the kid out on some trails for the first time. While new experience for him, that he loved. Rim finally arrived for the front wheel, so will soon have a matching pair to the rear.

  5. When I had to have to travel up to Dallas for work, I always had my MTB with me. Would stop at Cameron Park on the way up there and then hit what I could after all the boring meetings once in Dallas. While all my coworkers were planning out where they were heading for drinks and dinner every night, I was long gone, out finding new trails. It was also a great way to get out of attending annoying business dinners with people I would rather not be socializing with. Yet another reason to have a MTB! šŸ™‚

  6. I didn't have any problems with the vinyl under the clear. I did end up buying some bulk Lamin-X clear frame protector and put it over the decals also. It's really easy to cut and use.

  7. Waco was on the list of possible stops as well yesterday. However, the wife booked us an air bnb for a getaway weekend a mile from cameron park. She was not happy when i loaded the bike up this afternoon.

  8. I try to hit up 4-5 different trails each week just to mix it up and not get bored or to complacent riding the same trails all the time. Sent from my moto g(7) supra using Tapatalk

  10. My fitness is awful right now, held up @WLemke quite a bit. Iā€™m sure he is a better match for you @throetfitness wise. I think our skills are pretty similar so it was fun taking the harder lines and having someone lead or follow the same way.

  11. I laugh at myself doing this sometimes when I get momentarily disoriented as to where I am. Laugh, because maybe it's a trail I've been on dozens of times. Doing something "backwards" or at night, "It's all new trail."

  12. I had meant to reply to your post a while back, and running into an article finally prompted me to. I grew up listening to whatever my parents listened to as I've mentioned before (Beatles, Mexican popular music, classical music, Mexican classic ballads, etc.) At some point I got into Rock music: Queen, The Police (though they sound more like Jazz in their early days), David Bowie, etc. At some point I was all into the hair bands: Cinderella, Ratt, Poison, Motley Crue, etc. I never got into Black Sabbath but I did like Deep Purple. 8th and 9th grade I had some heads in my apartment complex and we rode the buses together, and they got me into Metallica. I loved it. Maybe 10 years later I ran into a school friend whom I hadn't seen in 10 years, and we both remarked how embarrassing it was to have like Twisted Sister. I guess it was right at the time for us being tweens. At that point we were in San Antonio (a much harder rocking town than Austin IMO), Guns-n-Roses and the start of Grunge, I still remember 99.5 KISS ads for Soundgarden at the Sunken Gardens Theater. It's all an evolution in taste. 35 years later or so, and I love the old Black Sabbath. To think of how early they were (I bet most gen-x don't realize how early they were) is just amazing. I would recommend you re-visit Black Sabbath. Here's the article that prompted this post: https://www.theringer.com/2021/1/14/22230652/metallica-black-album-enter-sandman-history-podcast PS I still think Jethro Tull winning the first Grammy for Heavy Metal over Metallica And Justice For All is a travesty. Fight me. With that: PS

  13. I agree that it's possible for outdoor spread to occur when you have inconsiderate folks obstinately ignoring guidelines (like the Rose Garden event). Outdoors with 6' separation for sustained exposure, or even brief outdoors close exposure (like passing on a trail) seem to be pretty safe activities even when unmasked. Unfortunately there hasn't been a lot of real research on the idea, outside of that one discounted theoretical model. So my own continued trail and post ride activities are all I have to go on. The other thing--I've never really been worried about myself or household. We're generally healthy folks who take reasonable precautions and follow the current guidelines to the best of our understanding. I've been far more concerned with becoming an unbeknownst spreader, and then infecting the more venerable, including some with whom I work closely. But I think the good news here is that by April, even though we will not have achieved heard immunity (though survived infection + vaccination) I do think it is likely that the most venerable among us will be vaccinated by then, alleviating my primary concern. I will, however, continue to take reasonable precautions until I'm vaccinated as well.

  14. I haven't made it this far to blow it all. Wife had open heart surgery and that was a huge ordeal last year. Knowing how covid messes with hearts, I am not about to ruin everything she worked so hard for. Not worth it, unfortunately. We'll see where the jabs line up.

  15. Covid-wise I am not worried about this event. We've been camping a lot this year and we have never felt unsafe. Camping is not issue. I have also participated in group rides. Even doing post ride imbibing in a group circle. We just insure more spacing. So there will be a pretty big circle around the communal fire. But it should work. We just have to be ever diligent about spacing I have yet to read anything about any super spreader OUTDOOR events.
