  1. To me, GTG means the trail is no wetter than "tacky" in a few places, with the exception of low-lying areas in creek beds that always take several days to drain. If there are puddles, the trail is not GTG.

  2. If someone's trail report is simply "Good-to Go" and nothing else, I would expect to encounter dry trail throughout. People who know the area and "local rules" would expect hero dirt after a damp spell. If it's still damp with puddles and you should use caution, then you should say so... IMHO.

  9. Essentially, nothing out here is primo. In fact, rocky sections are plenty slick once you’ve accumulated some moisture on your tires. With that being said, the following trails are okay to ride without damaging them... Picnic - GTG 1/4 - GTG Double Down - GTG Rim - GTG. Holy smokes that was sketchy! Peddlers - Left the chain up for now. East side rode fine although tacky, west side has some slimy areas that are getting damaged. Suburban Ninja 🥷- GTG

  10. When our friends were all getting new Honda 50s or Honda 70s, my step-dad got me and my brother brand-new Continentals. Mine was bright yellow. While I hated not having a mini-bike, the Continental was more practical and I put a ton of miles on it during my middle school years.

  11. Good to go for me would mean the trails are dry and not even tacky, possibly a few damp spots but easily avoidable. Rocky areas would also be dry and not slippery. Sent from my moto g(7) supra using Tapatalk

  12. Pizza flavored, sort of. Maybe like a pizza-flavored chip or something. Smells a bit like marinara, has a bit of a savory/salty taste.

  14. Yep, honestly, I would be willing to bet US fish and wildlife haven't even been to SW Regional recently and have nothing to do with it. The park is OLD. The caves have been mapped, studied and understood for well over a decade. There should be no surprises. To all of a sudden have an protect species coincidentally found beside 2 neighborhood borders - yea right. Just like the "artifact study" that prevented us from previously building the area below 5-0 - everything west of the double track except Rim was off limits because of "artifacts". Glad Ronan and ARR got that lie exposed and is getting Bob Ross built.

  15. I had a ticking coming from bike two or three rides after building it. I thought it was the left side pedal or BB because it would click under load when climbing. Turned out to be the seat post, not enough grease when I assembled the bike. Noises drive me nuts! I hate it when my bike isn't quite and I have to trouble shoot where noise is coming from. Carbon frames amplify all sounds making it even more annoying.

  16. They did. It's just disguised under "wildlife protection " Good ole Texas. What isn't private land is corporate land and what isn't either those are wildlife protection zones. What we are left with is thin slivers of greenspace here and there. Mostly in spots that can't be built upon. Yay Texas. One day I'll be able to escape being trapped here and move to where you can get some space. This is about the best locally we can hope for. https://www.chron.com/life/article/100-mile-nature-trail-links-San-Antonio-Austin-15890912.php Sent from my SM-N986U using Tapatalk

  18. When I was 11 years old I had a Typhoon to deliver news papers. It had the horn tank and front and rear racks. The bike was a tank itself. Had to be 40#.

  19. In high school in the '70s, Schwinn was THE bike to have. I had a Varsity, but the Continental was the one I really wanted.

  20. on that note, I just finished reading (skimming, mostly) a book about the Schwinn bicycle company called "No Hands." TL;DR: German immigrant starts manufacturing bicycles in America, the company gains an amazing reputation but fails to keep up with trends. subsequent generations of Schwinns squander the opportunity and drive the company into the ground while Trek, Specialized, Mongoose, etc. leave them in the dust.

  21. Not that I was ever skeptical about the strength of carbon rims but a recent experience really showed me the abuse they can take. About a month ago a guy drop off a 2016 Pivot with carbon rims for a tuneup. During my inspection, I noticed that the spokes were really loose. “Really loose” is probably an understatement. Every single spoke was reading a big fat 0 on my tension meter. I ended up having to undo all of the spokes, re-tension, re-dish, and re-true both wheels. Even after being ridden with no tension for god knows how many miles, the rims were spinning perfectly true after being rehabilitated. No way aluminum rims would be in such good shape after such abuse. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  24. I've had my Nextie AM30 rims a few years now. They've been on two different hubs on two different bikes. They have taken a good amount of abuse and have plenty of scars to prove it. They only saved like 160gms overall so not much lighter than the XM481's I had. But I will say that when I relaced them to a set of boost hubs they built up just like they were new. Carbon maintains it's trueness unlike aluminum, aluminum shows it's age when you relace them. Aluminum doesn't tension up the same way after being used for a couple of years.
