  1. Another trip down weird lane completed........ Built a 2nd bike for the wife to ride at some MTB parks this spring/summer when we get the needle. Most components are leftover parts I had laying around, and some other horse trades, with the only new parts being the handlebar, brake hose and pads. Waiting for a 300lb coil to show up saturday for a test ride. Stoked for her. 2018 Delirium Small DVO Jade 180mm Lyrik 27.5 DT swiss wheels Saint derailleur with one up cage XTR 10spd shifter 11-42 XT brakes 2.5SS & 2.6 DHF Works angleset 62.5* HTA 1194mm WB

  5. I’m currently happy with my stable of bikes. So instead of N+1, I’m pretty sure this GX drive train will be my next significant bike related purchase😁

  6. Your right. The Tacoma is the true AK47 of Toyota off-road vehicles. I just have extreme SUV bias.

  9. Dear community wondering if any one can recommend instructors for MTB or if anyone here is interested in teaching? I am doing intermediate trails but want to get better at my technique. I may bring another friend who is in a similar situation. best rajeev

  10. And which direction you want to go. That can really make a mess of things if you pick the wrong direction.

  11. This morning. Garbage. Heard that 1/4 and DD were mostly good to go with some tacky spots. Picnic still needs more time.

  13. I thought it was the Hilux/Tacoma that was like an AK47. AK47 is not a order number designation right?

  14. Shimano has become the Toyota of the MTB world. They build great products, but rest on their laurels a little too long and are now spending most of their time on their back foot. OTOH, SLX is pretty much the AK47 of drivetrains, and is my go to for any reliable budget build.

  15. Man, I finally got my bb replaced (big thanks to @WLemke for the use of his 12 notch bb tool) but not after struggling to remove my cranks. Having removed/installed numerous cranks in the past, I felt confident that I was doing it right. But the 8mm extractor bolt was not moving at all. A quick online search revealed that this is a common issue with SRAM cranks. I'm not sure whether it's a design flaw (queue the SRAM haters) or just over torquing during the install, but it seems that lots of people run into trouble when trying to remove their cranks for the first time. I ended up stopping by AutoZone after my ride yesterday and picking up an 18" breaker bar to get some more leverage. That finally did the trick and everything went smoothly after that.

  16. I thought the guy who runs Endura Race, who helped organize the Peddlers Pass race did training/clinics? I did one of his freebies for people who registered for the race, it was excellent and everyone in the class improved their overall times. His voice echoes in my head in every corner of PP. 🤣

  17. I can't remember his name, but I knew someone that took a few lessons from the guy that runs Team Trail Party. Just looked on their website and they have a section for clinics, but nothing current is listed. It might be worth contacting them to see if they are doing lessons or clinics.

  18. This past weekend I took a solo trip to BVille. I stayed at the recently opened Coler Campgrounds https://www.peelcompton.org/coler-mountain-bike-preserve/camping/ Since it was just me the small platform was plenty good. There are 16 well spread out site and 6 pads for camper vans (did see a dude with an Outback and teardrop) The sites don't have water and no fires allowed. That was fine with me. There is a community fire pit if that's your thing. The area itself is on the west side of Coler and about maybe 200 yards from the paved trail but people dont come over and through all the trees I doubt they know there is a campground there. Airship coffee is a short walk away and a couple green trails are right there leading toward the south end and connecting over to Coler. From this location it is a short ~10 Min drive to the Little Sugar trail. You can ride the paved path south and hit 3rd St and then wind your way over to downtown BVille in maybe ~15 min , so located nicely. There was a gate that required a code to enter to keep out the riff raff commoners and you park once you go through the gate ( Cars \ trucks are in a lot and and so you don't potentially have your car near the sites) Every time I came in driving there was a docent there to check my name and pop in the code for me. Super nice people. The grounds are very clean and nicely kept. The bath rooms are separate from men\woman and there is a code to enter the bath rooms. They were amazingly clean and heated. The men's room had 5 showers and 3 toilets . Looked nice with the wood and tile. I was concerned with my bike , I noticed some people would leave the site and keep their bikes at their site. Some people left them on their racks. I kept mine in the back of my truck , I have a cap so it was locked. Anyways I'd definitely go back there and was pleasantly surprised how nice it was.
