  1. I have that thread hidden so that I stay out of the conversation, but...I want to apologize for letting my frustrations affect interactions with other people. I wear masks where required, and don't try to force my opinions on others. My wife and I are almost done with our jabs. She has both, I have a week and a half for my second. I despise anti-vaxxers. The virus is real, and even though I have a different opinion of the actual risk, we all have to live it. I know people that want to keep restrictions in place, even when most everyone has been jabbed, I disagree with that. They have the right to stay masked and maintain distance for as long as they like. I want to start getting back to normal so that small businesses and others can survive. I sincerely apologize for letting my frustrations boil over into a place that has been nothing but nice to me.

  6. My wife is from Munich and as her dad was a pilot she has traveled all over the world and has lived in some cool places. She speaks 4 languages ( I barely know one ) I wouldn't have have to twist her arm to move out of the country. Plus it will kill me to pay a huge sum for another house and to keep paying stupid propert taxes. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

  7. Late to this party it seems. In 2017 I had enough of tent camping for all of my life and was dating a gal (now my wife) who I wanted to make comfortable too. I found a killer deal on Craigslist for a Little guy 5 wide. It’s been a great purchase and I recommend a teardrop for people not wanting to deal with a huge camper but wanting a touch above a tent. As far as the gun goes, if you really want one you should train and she should too. As others have said, study reciprocity. You should be fine in most of the southeast and the mountain west, but make sure prior to departure. It is as good a time to be a gun owner as it is a bike owner. Technology has really advanced the last 10 years. Excellent options at all price ranges.

  9. I have to be in Wimberly Saturday AM for a kid thing and was planning on going to Madrone, but I remembered there were trails in San Marcos. Looked up Purgatory Creek on Trailforks and confirmed it. Now- what are the thoughts? Ive done Madrone twice- should I stay there or check out these trails? Also concerned part of that loop is closed with GCW nesting until May, if thats the case I dont see it makes sense.

  10. When this one was much smaller I had given it up for dead only to see it come back a couple of years later. That was over a decade ago. Plan now is to just cut these dead leaves back and see what happens.

  11. Dont forget the spring lake preserve area. They've been digging up there and have added some fun, flowy stuff with some actual downhill fun. IMHO, it's much better than purgatory which is one of the least enjoyable trail networks i've ever ridden. F purgatory and the cinder block rocks it rode in on. Madrone is great if you park at the marina, start from there, and finish with a margarita at the bar. https://www.trailforks.com/poi/23856/

  14. I think purgatory creek is fun ride, rocky in places and smooth in others but nothing too difficult. A good part of the trails are closed for the golden warblers or whatever which is why I don't ride out there till the nesting season is over. Madrone is also a fun ride and would probably do that of the two due to the partial closure of purgatory. Both are fun and not too difficult so I think you would have fun at either one. 15. Looks sweet. What exactly is a field destroy? Does that mean you have to smash it with a hammer and send them photo evidence so it won't be re-sold?

  18. Venue is great. Admittedly, it's been since late 2019 since we've been there. Last spring we hit Reimers and the flow trail, but the brewery wasnt open. Family reminded me of twisted x. Nice venue, decent beer but no standouts. Thanks to @mack_turtle and @AustinBikefor adding the flow trail to the site. Did you get to send anything?

  21. Spain has a "golden visa" program, if you move a certain amount of your assets over to a bank in Spain they allow you to fast track a resident alien visa and get on the path to citizenship quickly. I have one friend that retired there (Sevilla) doing that and some other friends there as well. It is relatively cheap to live in Spain, healthcare is the biggest issue but the golden visa gets you to the point of being able to buy into their system. We were in Sevilla an ran into an old guy with a "Maria's Taco Express" t-shirt on. Turns out he was an Austin native and moved there years ago. He comes back to the US once or twice a year if he has serious issues because he paid into Medicare. Complicated but workable.

  23. That chair was reserved for lectures with my 15-yr old son. These days however, he prefers to stand while lecturing me. 😂😂😂 Fork has arrived. Now just waiting on new stem, bar, and bb. Everything else will transfer over from old frame, which Intense has advised requires a "field destroy" within 30 days. 🧨🧨🧨

  26. Interesting way to test RAD fitting theory on the bike rather than with abstract numbers: Find a pair of picnic tables. (If you have two low step ladders, that works too.) Suspend your bike by it's pedals on the table tops. If you're in a public park, try not to gouge up the tables. Step up onto your pedals and test your range of motion. When the bike is as close to upright as it can get with your handlebar in your lap like you've just reached the top of a deadlift. Drop your shoulders and straighten your arms and wrists. Ideal RAD will set your grips right in your hands. There's a range that works for everyone. This serves as a good reference point. I believe most riders will have a RAD that is quite a bit longer than that, so the grips will be at your wrists or higher. Lee calls this "RAD plus" and might work well for gravity-assisted riding. Grip below your knuckles is RAD minus and might better suit riding twisty trails with lots of trials-y stuff that we think of as East Coast riding. Being a giant dork, I did the picnic table experiment in Dick Nichols Park a few years ago. My RAD for that bike was a little long, but a short stem and sweety bar got it within range to serve as a good reference point.

  28. we've seriously considered spain as an option but we still have to work, and good jobs are hard to come by. Beyond that, it ticks a lot of boxes as both us us are 100% comfortable with spanish culture.
