  1. When I first moved here from Houston in 2006, I noted that I only needed 2 t-shirts for a tennis match vs. the 4 that I needed for a match in Houston. Over the years though, I've either lost sight of that difference or the difference is diminishing. Seems when I was at Ft. Hood in the seventies and Texas State in the eighties, Central Texas was considered semi-arid and vastly different from the surrounding coastal areas. I'm not convinced that is the case anymore.

  2. A real Houston driver would have probably backed up and made sure to destroy her bike before speeding off. Must have been a transplant driver. I don't think I've seen a less bike friendly big city.

  3. They should try Houston, then come back here. Humidity here has never bothered me, Houston is terrible.

  5. I have heard this rumor as well. In! …and a huge thank you to all the people who have put in time maintaining WC. The trail improvements have had a noticeable impact in how quickly the trail drains and how quickly the trail is dry enough to ride after a rain. 6. +1- I have been running them for many years, I also started running their tire sealant a couple years ago and have been pleased with both.

  7. Mine told me to purge it every time. I assume for the same reason you don't store your bike with the dropper post slammed. Is that not necessary?

  9. The texas heat and humidity don't bother me I just have to remember to stay hydrated and I'm good. I grew up with the cold (canada) and don't miss it and actually like our summers here. Sent from my moto g(7) supra using Tapatalk

  10. It's the only place I've ever lived that's so humid, yet all the grass is dying. So bizarre. Trying to make another run to spider before it gets much hotter. Following that, the summer will be spent on the trainer or in the mountains.

  11. They also made it sound like Austin was constantly overrun with dangling caterpillars. It was bad for a couple weeks.

  12. this is definitely the top reason that I spend as little time as possible on the Gulf Coast. that and ... everything else. a friend of mine lived there for a few years and found an apartment close to her job. got clipped by a car on her bike on her first day while riding to work and the driver just left her there. that's Houston in a nutshell for me.

  13. Was amused to see this video where Mo and Hannah are complaining about humidity in Austin ..... in what must have been early spring (references to Blue Bonnets being in bloom). Imagine what they would think in Jul-Aug!

  15. Yeah I assumed they were tapped but came with cotter pins like the zee’s. Easy enough to do though. trucker co will be my next pads, my Utah friends also recommend them.

  16. I embrace the soak. My go to bike carries two bottles and I have friendly spigots along the way.

  17. It's heathritis. Seriously though, I rode ~5 hours and drank 5 bottles and felt OK, no headache or dehydrated at all, but we went out to dinner, 2 margaritas, 2 big glasses of water on top of 32 oz of water at home. I still woke up thirsty and peeing very little. I was surprised because it didn't really feel hot for me. Normally when things heat up, I need 50-56oz per hour instead of 25-28oz/hr like I did yesterday. Even at 50oz/hr I still have to catch up after. Yesterday definitely caught me by surprise. Hopefully as I acclimate I think my body will start conserving water a bit more.

  18. I got my new Evoc on Saturday and rode with it yesterday I wanted it mainly for comfort and storage. It comes with a 1.5 L bladder,, 1st thing I did was Swap over my bladder from the Dakine HotLaps witha 2L bladder , it fit perfect. This does come with the 1.5 L bladder and pockets for 2 water bottles. So thats cool The storage was sweet for my use. Tool and C02 cartridge couple snacks and little wallet. I have a huge ass phone so that fit very nicely in the pocket right next to the bladder so it is protected. So far so good

  19. This is correct. It hasn't been like Walmart shutting down a mom&pop. More bikes in the area has only been good for RPR. And it has been particularly good for the same big hit crowd.

  21. Looks good! Can also say the TruckerCo metallic sintered pads for zee/saint worked every bit as good as my finned saint metallic pads. Initial bite is a bit more aggressive but you can work through it. Also surprised they weren't tapped from the factory like the older deore were.

  22. I had to replace my rear brake caliper, it was a Shimano XT 8020 and couldn’t find a deal on one since they are discontinued. Ended up picking up a Deore 6120 caliper. The lower end Shimano brakes take a cotter pin which I hate. I prefer the screw in pin found on the higher tier brakes. I was able to tap in threads to the caliper to fit the screw in pin and also Saint/Zee finned pads fit in these brakes! They feel almost exactly like the XT’s! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  23. Earlier this year we (ARR) walked the trail with Travis County and provided input to one of their downtown staff members who was applying for a $200K-ish State of Texas grant—part of which would go towards finishing out the other four planned Flow Trails. It was Travis County who contacted ARR about this—THEY want it finished, which is a refreshing attitude. We are supposed to hear back regarding that grant application this month!! Cross ya fingahs!

  25. Sadly, I cannot fit a bottle in my frame so the single bottle Dakine is going on the shelf for the summer. This ghetto two bottle hiking thing will have to work..
