I lived in San Antonio and was just getting into mountain biking when they officially opened the trails along Salado and Leon Creeks. The paved paths around the city are great, and there's singletrack all over the place near those creeks. It might not be difficult to link together a massive route that circumnavigates the city with those. Pedaling TO San Antonio from Austin could turn into a multi-day bikepacking tour.1 point

I've got a few hundred miles on my steel gravel bike on BB7s and have never had an issue with them. Hydraulic is great, but I just don't see the need on the road.1 point
