  1. To your first point, I think it depends greatly on where you look. If you zoom in on Burnet or Boerne I'm guessing you might find more miles of trail open to ebikes. Sure, if you focus on Austin you won't see much because the trail networks are primarily located in city/county parks. I don't ride as much as you, but mine would be closer to a 50/50 split between public and private trails. I typically do a mid-week ride in town on public trails (Brushy, Ninja, Walnut, Lakeway) and a weekend ride on private trails (Spider, RPR, Flat Creek, Flat Rock, etc.). My riding these days is less about miles and more about smiles. Riding downhill makes me happy, so I'd rather do more of that. That's why I'm at Spider just about every other weekend. At places without a lift, an ebike would give me the opportunity to double the number of laps on any given day. Again, I don't have one. But I see their place and I am definitely not ruling out the possibility of owning one in the future. I resisted dropper posts for a long time. Hopefully, I've learned from that experience...

  2. Most of these riders will ride these types of features regardless of whether there's money involved or not.

  3. most likely, you can move your shifter around to accommodate this. depends on the shifter though. you might be able to relocate the shifter clamp outboard from the brake lever clamp, or attach the shifter directly to the brake lever. sounds like a bit of hassle, but 100% worth the effort if it means more confident control over the bike.

  4. Yeah, got out there to ride it recently and did pretty much everything as a sort of going away ride assuming I can't make the race. Back area after Omar's was getting pretty overgrown (Jeep road especially, Coyote Run, etc) so will take a good bit to get it race ready. Definitely sad to see all of what I considered the good stuff going away, but things change.

  5. The original Swedish version of the girl with the dragon tattoo trilogy is a much darker version than the James Bond US version. Need to get Netflix again to see Squid Game it sounds like!

  6. You think that footage is brutal, the multiple angle one Gee Atherton released of his recent crash was way worse to me. Really crazy is the version he narrated saying basically it’s what I do for a living. I know the risks, know I’ll get hurt doing it, and soon as I finish rehab I’ll go right back to it. Really eye opening commentary on how some of these guys view “extreme sports”.

  7. so years and year and years ago, i was coming home north from South Austin... I got home and realized my Kona dawg deluxe was gone out of the back of my truck. never knowing if it got stolen or fell out of the back of my truck 6 months or more goes by - on a whim one day I check craigslist and sure enough there is my bike posted in an ad! I contacted the seller acting as an interested buyer. met him in South Austin in a parking lot... as soon as he took the bike out of his truck bed I busted out a picture of my bike and said that the bike belonged to me.. according to him, his friend who he claimed found it once it fell out of the back of my truck was actually the principal or Lamar high school and they happily let me take it back.. the guy also joked that prior to meeting us he had JUST left from another place where he had just bought a new pistol and a bunch of ammo. glad homeboy was a nice guy because apparently he was packing heat! haha

  8. I will say the translation is lacking quite a bit. I have forgotten most of the language but a better translation would help. Maybe they did it because they thought a western audience needed it dumbed down? The acting and direction is top notch though!

  12. I watch it mostly to grasp what is within the realm of possibilities on a mountain bike. Honestly I'd be fine if they left the slopestyle stuff out of it and just highlighted the absolute bike control that is required on steep terrain and massive drop offs, with the ability to manage high speed in some situations and control speed in others. Hell I'd probably shit my pants just dropping off that platform!

  13. Yeah, it's great. If you dig foreign stuff then the other side of the spectrum is "Occupied" on Netflix. It is Norwegian, worth the watch. About 1/3 is in English, whenever the Russians and Norwegians are talking to each other.
