  1. Palo Duro Canyon - October 2018 Updated

After 20 years of living in Austin, I finally had the opportunity to ride Palo Duro Canyon.  I was able to get in 20 miles before having to reluctantly finish my ride and continue the trek back to Austin.  This trail system has some of the best views you'll get in Texas, and the trails offer a variety of riding.  Some trails have many technical features, combined with sharp climbs or descents. Others offer fast, flowing singletrack that you can really hammer on (being careful of others, of course).  There's nary a straight piece of trail in the whole park!  Highly recommend, and I look forward to riding again!

  2. Magnificent 7 at Moab - October 2018 Updated

Stopped in Moab on my way back from Portland in late October 2018.  Ended up staying a full day there and riding the Magnificent 7 trails, which I've never ridden before.  The first several trails were great!  Then I got to the Gold Bar and Portal trails at the end.  The first section of Gold Bar was fine, but then you get to a section of trail also used by Jeeps, and that wasn't as much fun (and a ton of brutal climbs!)  After that, you do the long Gold Bar Rim trail, which runs along a canyon edge along Highway 191 north of Moab.  Finally, the Portal trail, which has pretty extreme exposure and I walked a good portion of that due to the very high penalty of failure (death).  I never need to ride that particular trail again!

  3. Lake Georgetown - August 30, 2018 Updated

There were still some trees down between Cedar Breaks and Crockett Springs, so throet and I spent three hours with hand saws to remove them.

  4. Lake Georgetown - August 26, 2018 Updated

We cleaned up a large number of trees at Lake Georgetown that were downed by a freak microburst several days prior.  Tons of trees down along the trail between Cedar Hollow and Crockett Springs.  There are a few more between Crockett and Cedar Breaks, but those should get taken care of soon!

  5. Walnut Creek - October 2, 2018 Updated

The rock crew worked to move two large boulders at the main creek crossing to fill a hole in the rock path that stretches across the creek.  This will allow people to once again get across the creek without getting wet.  We also did some additional rock work on the other side of the creek.

  6. Narnia - Now with Concrete!

The Narnia trail is used to connect the section underneath the 183/Mopac flyovers with the road that dumps into the south side of the J.J. Pickle Research Campus.  This used to be a singletrack trail (which would sometimes be muddy or get overgrown), and the city has now transformed it into a concrete highway...
