  1. It makes me sad. I think Dave resisted carbon fiber as long as he could and he wanted to keep fabrication stateside. I don't know why he abandoned full suspension bikes though.
  2. Thanks for the recommendations. I'm looking into the Rascal now.
  3. At least my bike made it through my CO/NM trip last week. Riding the Greenbelt this AM and I felt a CLUNK going over a rock drop. The seat tube broke clean through. This is the 2nd Turner of mine the Greenbelt has claimed. Turner only has one mtb frame now - titanium front suspension. I've only ridden Turner since 2005. What are some good all mountain/cross country options? DH isn't really my thing, so not interested in going that route.
  4. Turkey Springs was good fun. Lots of swooping trails. Not terribly technical which makes it fast. I also hit up Boggy Draw which was fun. Thanks for that suggestion. McPhee Campground was a good place to camp. Lots of tree cover and easy access to the lake.
  5. I drove past Angel Fire and it looked open. Got in some quality riding around Cortez and Pagosa Springs.
  6. Forgoing Angel Fire. Added a day to Pagosa Springs. Thinking Turkey Springs plus riding up to Wolf Creek and headed down Treasure Mountain Trail. In Cortez, hitting up Phil's, Boggy Draw and Sand Canyon. The last one to check out Ruins.
  7. I've been watching the fires as well as smoke maps since I hatched this plan. I do appreciate that being brought up though.
  8. @June Bug IIRC, you lived in Cortez? I was thinking about camping at McPhee Reservoir. Thoughts on that?
  9. I'm headed out for camping in a couple of weeks. I'm considering Angel Fire as one stop. I'm not into jumping. Is this worth it if I prefer flowy trails and keeping the rubber down? I'll also end up at Cortez. I hit Phil's World once before and plan on it again. Anything else I should consider between there and Pagosa Springs?
  10. My son's Ruckus had GPS. It always drained his battery. It didn't keep thieves from taking his Ruckus. It turned up a couple years later stripped.
  11. I saw these advertised on Facebook. Will be interesting to see how it works out for you.
  12. The county DA took over from the city DA because: 1. The city cop did not conduct a proper crime scene investigation. 2. The father of the driver is friends with the city DA 3. The father is friends with the mayor. I have zero sympathy for the kid. His asshat lawyer actually used the defense" think about his future". How about the future of the cyclists who were hit? Throw the book at this kid.
  13. Back when there was a trail committee, the park director told me a tunnel was in the works. That was 8ish years ago.
  14. I was riding Deception pretty early yesterday morning. A group of trail runners decide the best place to stop and take a break is right in the middle of the trail. Why?
  15. What happened to Mojo? It used to be a great forum. I still have my Mojo bike jersey.
  16. That was Jeremiah. I always thought he was decent. I know he and Nelo had a falling out.
  17. The only time I did Hotter than Hell Hundred my Look 386 got stolen at the finish area. I told the cops and their apathy was horrible. The response I got was "we get at least 20 stolen every year". It was said with the attitude of you can file a report but we're not doing anything about it.
  18. Is this immediate or do we have time for a last ride?
  19. Was just talking to my neighbor who was born here in the early 60s when he said the population was 50,000. I've only been here since '91 and the vibe is long gone. We just got back from Colorado and Utah and I found I can handle altitude better than this humidity. You might consider looking around Boulder, UT although I don't know what land costs are like.
  20. I've got a buddy who spends his summers in Salida. Pretty awesome little town. Great mtbing and rafting or kayaking.
  21. A trail dozer is similar in size to a skid steer. For now I'm looking to cut in a path for the wife as she's not as adventurous. It'd be a couple hundred feet. Plus I want to cut in a small pond, about 4000 gallon. With the site slope, I'd really just be building up a berm. View from the back of the lot
  22. I ignored the $1 adds on Craigslist. Guess I should not have. When I had my business, I bought a 20+ year old forkluft and it ran like a champ. Figured I would do the same with a small dozer. Buying an old used machine and reselling a few months later is cheaper and more convenient than renting.
  23. I thought if I ever won the lottery that is exactly what I would do. This piece of land isn't big enough for anything exciting although it does have a pretty good decent.
  24. My thought was to buy one as this will be weekend work for a couple of months and probably sell it when we're done.
