  1. Yeah, Alberto Fujimori was their Prime Minister in the 90's.
  2. 110% in my tomatoes. Although, my produce does not technically vote.
  3. The Pez Outlaw on Netflix is worth the 90 minutes it takes you to watch it.
  4. Another vote for slaughter creek, eventually walnut would be fine too if you pick your route properly
  5. I cannot unthink this thread.
  6. Good god people, 80F in January??? Get out and ride tonight! Early lap starts at 4:30.
  7. Your comment came in after I ordered, fast shipping and free returns, I figured, why not. It worked, marginally, but ultimately returned it. Not 100% sure that it was the battery or the lights. Ordered a replacement set of Gloworm lights from Jenson. We'll see when that comes in if the "real" battery works or if the lights still have an issue. If the lights work, I'll have a spare set as a backup.
  8. They were originally given to me and they are 5-6 years old. Plus they have been broken enough times (including smoke) that I feel I'd be better off just buying new ones. They are ordered.
  9. I have, on the Church Climb at Walnut. Two of them practically took me off the trail. Probably an isolated incident. But, no class whatsoever.
  10. And to make it all worse: https://www.fox7austin.com/news/video-self-driving-car-caught-on-camera-austin-bike-lane
  11. In general terms, it will be people riding too fast. Nature had a way of limiting the Stravasshole pool (skills, endurance, etc.) Sadly, e-bikes could lower the cost of entry into that pool. Ultimately the rest of the world sees us as a single, homogeneous bucket of "bikers" and that will be the problem.
  12. That is actually the easy part for me. The key is not falling off before I get to that spot. That is basically the angle of the basket drop on Picnic at Brushy.
  13. I would totally ride that. And crash.
  14. You have to keep in mind that your "speed" is relevant to what is being measured. Most people (no offense) and not doing it right which is why they can't seem to figure it out. Let me give you an example: Netflix's Server <-A-> CDN server (internet edge) <-B-> Your ISP's server <-C-> Your Router <-D-> Your switch (or wireless) <-E-> Your computer Now, each of the segments (A-E) have a different speed, so what is your "Netflix speed"? The short answer is "always the slowest segment." For instance, my ISP connection (C) is 500Mb/s (generally measures out at ~560-585Mb/s) all of my networking (D) is 1000 Mb/s and my wireless is ~475-520Mb/s. So, in a perfect world, watching Netflix on my laptop *should* be ~475-520Mb/s, because the is the lowest speed link, right? Nope. That is only the connection to my ISPs server. Upstream to the internet (B) and beyond (A) are the real limiting factors. I deal with a lot of big files within my network, so obsessing on the speed is critical. But I think the simple answer for the non-network enthusiasts is "if you are getting a solid stream and no sputtering then your work is done." I've seen people obsess about the pings on their system and trying to get the lowest latency without understanding that A and B are having the real impact on their performance. That being said, my network is massive overkill for the house, but the question of "is our wifi slow" is never asked. My wife knows better. If "the internet" is slow, it is Spectrum's problem, not mine.
  15. I have a Gloworm X2 light that has been running great for ~5-6 years now. It gets very light use, once a week, at the R&I, for about 1 hour at the most. It's been fine, I can usually get a couple rides out of it before it dies on me. About 3 years ago the battery case was damaged in a crash. Lost the battery life indicator, but I was able to put it back together and hot glue it all in place. Then, ~2 years ago, it died and I was able to revive it with a soldering iron, but I was pretty sure that this was it. This morning, it would not work, charged it a bit, no dice. Pulled out a multimeter to check and see if there was any charge. Apparently there was some charge because there was a "buzz" and the smell of burnt wires. So, it's going to battery heaven. This is the battery: https://www.action-led-lights.com/collections/batteries/products/gloworm-6800mah-hi-capacity-4-cell-battery-pack The light *should* be a 7.4v light and I think the max lumens are 1700W. Jenson has a full set for about the cost of that battery (~$150.) Was wondering if this would work: https://www.amazon.com/Stupidbright-Rechargeable-Bicycle-Battery-Replacement/dp/B00PE6TVCI/ref=sr_1_9 The connector seems to be the same as the Gloworm, I am guessing they are all fairly standard at this point. Or does anyone else have a better suggestion.
  16. I have experience in this. MoCA works well and I was able to sustain high throughput to a screen porch. For me the issue with MoCA is the extra devices and the need for power. Running Cat 5e or Cat 6 is easier in some cases, more difficult in others, depending on the house and construction. The key on MoCA is to spring for the better devices. Pay an extra $30 and get something from a name brand vendor, you'll save yourself $30 in hassles over the year. This is the one I tend to recommend: https://www.amazon.com/Motorola-MoCA-2-5-Adapter-Throughput/dp/B09KS8C3NB Powerline networking (your other choice) is not that great. It *generally* works but a lot of it depends on your house's wiring. I live in a 50-60 year old house that has been remodeled several times. I actually have two separate power distribution networks (unfortunately), the original and one from a remodel. Keep in mind that a smart TV does not need much bandwidth. 4K streaming only consumes ~25Mb/s of bandwidth; even a marginal WiFi signal should be fine in many cases. If you are getting drop outs that is another issue, but if you are getting a stable signal today and it is not stuttering, adding anything might not necessarily change the dynamics.
  17. I have been using these and they are pretty good: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M2YTA0S Wore my lobster gloves yesterday and that was probably overkill, but worth it.
  18. I just bought a 14. This was a good selling point for me. There is both hardware and software required for this so I would expect that a.) we won't see it on older phones and b.) we will probably see it on most phones in the future. The hitch for android will be who is going to productize/monetize the service. Apple is in a unique situation because they make the hardware and the software. Google has the ability to do something like this, but that does not mean their other OEM platforms will do this. If someone is in the market for a phone and thinking about this feature, do NOT buy one until you can verify the service is being offered now, not promised for the future. Because it deals with satellites, it is rocket science to a degree.
  19. Sure, the 70mm is at my house. Let me know if you are coming out this way during the week and I can leave it out for you.
  20. Yeah, I got a short ride in today, World Cup is eating up all of my free time. I did get a ride while the sun was out. Maybe between xmas and new years.
  21. I'll need to get out there, need to let things warm up a bit. When it is this cold I'd rather just ride local.
