  1. Can confirm, tree is duckable but barely and not advised to do so on the seat/ pedals. AJ is usually on top of things on SN, especially this close to the shop.
  2. At the risk of being someone I'm not... I'd really like to see more on how this works but it is an interesting concept. I wonder how it compares to an Oval chain ring in power delivery. Off the bat, I'd guess the motion would be more noticeable than an Oval but maybe not that different than a running/ walking feeling where the down/up or fwd/back it's not 100% circular. https://www.designboom.com/technology/cerdan-crankset-increases-pedaling-power-06-30-2021/
  3. Ok, no rubber then. Aluminum is "softer" than a steel bolt but the CF probably doesn't care. Its the surface area the load is spread out over, that's why the head of the bolt was so large relative to the shaft size. Even with a nylon washer, you are going to want to spread the load. The washer/ bolt contact should be the same size as the original bolt.
  4. Just edited my post, the rubber washer confused me. I wasn't sure which bolt it pertained to.
  5. EDIT. Re: Rubber Washer. You mean with the original Hanger Bolt or the Drain Bolt. My point is that you should use whatever the original designer intended. If they allowed AL to CF contact then match their same contact patch and you should be fine. If they had a rubber or nylon washer then I would use it.
  6. I usually plead the 5th when it comes to CF Frames. Way too many warranty issues/ OEMs doing a CYA. Ideally, assuming you are torqueing it the same, you'd want an AL washer with the same ID/OD as the broken bolt. This would ensure the loading on the CF frame would be equivalent. I'd also be careful with how much it sticks out that you don't hit/catch something, it could potentially transfer more load into the edge of the washer/frame if you catch it on a rock, etc. Clarification needed: The Bolt (5) threads into and holds the Hanger (3/4)? And the Axle (1) threads into the hanger? So if you loose torque on the bolt (5), you loose part of your axle retention? If so, as an ME, we'd call that a "dumb" design.
  7. Ok, NM. That's roughly what I have. Thanks!
  8. Maybe, what size? I have an medium-ish one but it's a pain to drag through the house for carpentry so I'm looking for a lighter one.
  9. Thanks for the... *Puts on Sunglasses*😎 Tip. YEEEEEAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
  10. *Bike Specific Multitool *Tube *Levers *Pump *Master Link *$10 Had to bum a tube once and I felt like a jerk not having anything to give but a thank you. *First Aid (band aids basically) *Gerber Dime Multitool *Water, as much as my frame and fanny pack will hold. *Wallet/keys/phone This forum is a tubeless fan club. Many for good reason but I've found with my sporadic riding schedule and riding style tubes have been very dependable for ME and worth the "drawbacks". YRMV.
  11. Adding another data point on the "new" Trek store(s). My helmet is getting long in the tooth and with my friend visiting this past week for a ride I thought it was a good excuse to purchase a new helmet. My current TLD A-1 has been a fantastic helmet for me, the fit is just right for my head and it's worn very well over 7 years. I tired other "top" brands that gave me a headache while I was still in the store, not a dig on them, just not for me; I'm a big believer in a good fit more than brand. Anyways, of course I procrastinate until this past Sunday afternoon and only the Trek stores are open. I walk in and they are friendly and ask what if I need any help. I volunteer that I'm looking for a new MTB helmet and they show me what they have. Unfortunately, they only carry one brand (Bontrager) and it doesn't fit my head. Nice Helmets still, cool features and their own proprietary MIPS competitor. In the end I wasn't interested in paying $150 for something that didn't fit right and I told the sales rep. On my way out he stop me and dug out a $20 voucher for my next visit. Overall, good service but I'm disappointed that because they are a corporate store they only have one brand of goods. Nothing specific about Bontrager, I've had good experiences in the past but I'd like choices.
  12. Wait, can we still get top dollar for 15 year old 26'rs?
  13. Slightly Related. When I used to ride Dual Sport (Street Legal Dirtbikes). On some trips were we had to do 60MPH for a length of time and to get to tight twisty steep single track we'd pack two sprockets and tools to change. Ride out with the 15T Countershaft Sprocket, Swap to a 14T for the trails and swap back for the ride home. While not super common it was nice. Does anyone do this for MTB on this this type of riding? If anything, it seems easier on a MTB because you don't have to worry about adjusting the chain tension and the sprocket is lighter to carry.
  14. If they won't let you return/exchange it, I may be interested in purchasing if I can get it to work. I have a 32T AB on my Shimano M8000 cranks but a cheap eBay Deckas Oval on my 104BCD cranks that isn't as effective. I was debating between a 30-32 AB Oval. I've also ran a 30T round on them so I don't know why it wouldn't work on my cranks.
  15. Make sure you guys name drop my name with AB so I can get my discount.
  16. On a slightly different subject. Before moving here I had a pretty good group of co-workers and friends who I rode with. I've taken a few friends riding here and there since living here but primarily ride alone. When my longtime riding is buddy visited this weekend, I rode longer than I've ever done but noticed that we took several short brakes and a few long ones. Something I realized I never do when I ride alone. In this weather, I alone, I usually hit 5-6 miles on Brushy or SN before calling it quits. On Monday with breaks, I had no problem hitting 10.5. We only stopped because of a time crunch. We. Probably could have eaked out another 2 miles. TLDR; I can ride farther in the hot weather when I actually take breaks.
  17. That was my experience except for finding out how slow I am immediately after... 😅
  18. Rode 10+ miles at SN this morning. At first it was almost "cool" the dew on the grass at 7am gave a nice chill to the air when starting from the Walsh Trails side. That was quickly subsided. Never got to bad but plenty to be drenched in sweat. We stashed a cooler with water at Redhorn, tanked up and rode some more. Finally got to ride hawg jaw, its great! However, most of the low. Spots have soft mud save for one with a 20' mud bath. Came home very dirty.
  19. OK, you may commence with your spending sprees. Thank you for your patience.
  20. Please, no one buy a new bike for a week. I have a friend coming to town and I took Monday off to go on a ride with him. Please.
  21. That's like $75 work of lumber!
