  1. I'll take the black one with red handles! PM Sent!
  2. It's a no for Me. No 29rs in the stable.
  3. I've heard the same, then again, they support a lot of privateers who expect that kind of service. I wish they had a "Weekend Warrior" level of service where they take it down a notch.
  4. They (Bradford Pears) all will at some point, just a matter of when.
  5. I love the mini-me color scheme!
  6. Interested if you aren't too far away from me. People are always complaining my loaner bike has sharp pedals.... PM Pending.
  7. Gald you liked it, I agree with everything you've said about the AB oval except my experience wasn't quite as drastic, but enough where I prefer it over round.
  8. My friend got a writeup in the Statesman with a little but more information. https://amp.statesman.com/amp/5082147001 TLDR: We may not know some trees fate for a few years...
  9. You'll get used to it. Then you'll love it but not really realize it until you get back on a 2X or 3X drivetrain and you have to "think" about shifting. 1X is still the best "innovation" to come out of recent MTB tech.
  10. After mocking the Element endlessly when they first came out, I secretly want one now. Seems like a great activity rig. However, the 4 passenger limitation and high-resale value is a deal breaker. They are too expensive for too many miles on the used market.
  11. It all comes down to who the intended market is for each brand. BMW, for example gets a bad rap for being un-reliable and expensive to maintain. Well, BMW doesn't (at least not anymore) design/market/sell their cars for anyone but the first buyer who will likely bring the car in for every service. Once the lease is up/ maintenance program expires it goes on to a 2nd owner who is buying it for different reasons. For that reason, BMW (and other "luxury" brands) has had some pretty advanced technology MUCH earlier than others. I had an '88 BMW 325 with 270K with more options and technology, better MPG and more comfortable than my 20 year newer 2008 Subaru. https://www.bmwusa.com/explore/bmw-value/bmw-maintenance/terms-and-conditions.html Toyota/Honda buyers (historically) prefer reliability over features. So they don't keep up with latest trends that others do. Subaru USED to have a captured market segment, which to some extent they still do (PNW, NE, Indiana) and their options were severely limited. Around 2009, they caught up because they realized they could increase sales by adding tech. Again, my 2008 Subaru Legacy "Special Edition" has the following options over the base model: 1) Electric Drivers Seat, 2) Sun Roof and 3) Tweeters. It doesn't even have auto up/down windows. Doesn't seem very "Special" to me. The following model year they threw the book at it and it became much more comparable to the competition feature-wise Nissan/Kia/Hyundai/Subaru (now) sell highly featureized cars to overcome a reputation of being (slightly) less reliable than Honda/Toyota.
  12. This topic is like tires... The best answers are the ones that say what fits you best. For me Giro and TLD fit me best with no pressure points. I've tried POC and Bell and both gave me headaches in the store. Nice helmets, just don't work with my head shape. Also, I've destroyed plenty of helmets at 0.1mph on two wheels/skis. Speed isn't a relative factor in head injuries. Its only bad or worse.
  13. Wait what? on my 1x10 with AB chainring the derailleur absolutely moves back and forth as the cranks turn. I assumed this was because as the larger diameter of the oval grew and shrank the spring-loaded derailleur was adjusting to keep the tension relatively constant. Maybe its just moving because the tangent point of the chain is moving up and down... my brain hurts.
  14. I will definitely blame the rain on this purchase.
  15. Cycleast, did a full rebuild on my Fox RP23 Shock. It's a bit of a drive from the north End but not too bad considering pandemic traffic. https://g.page/cycleast?share
  16. Looking at the weather this week someone must have bought hell of a new bike.
  17. On the Dakine Hotlaps 2L the mesh bottle holder is floppy but surprisingly easy to one-hand the bottle in or out after some initial getting used to it. It has a secondary retention but I stopped using it because it requires two hands and I kept forgetting. Never dropped a bottle (22oz or 26oz).
  18. I have a similar set-up but went a step farther and mounted it with rubber isolators. Helps me sneak out for early morning rides without waking up my whiney roommates. https://www.amazon.com/LiftMaster-Garage-Opener-Vibration-Isolator/dp/B0051H7JEC/
  19. I moved from WA State ~4 years ago. Can confirm. No Income tax, same base state sales tax (8.5ish%). However, depending on where you live in both places... County/City sales tax was over 10% pushing 12% in the bougie areas. Property tax was nearly half but home values (used to be ~2X so it was nearly on par for Texas. Comparing utilities with Austin proper friends I am happy to be in the suburbs paying far less for Water, Garbage and Electricity. That being said, when we moved, gas, groceries were noticeable cheaper. I used to joke that I could pump gas into my car while looking at the BP Cherry Point Refinery and was paying nearly the highest gas price in the state/country. Austin is well below nat'l average for gas. Seattle area is always well above.
  20. Yeah, I drain mine. If I used it daily and had a dryer. etc. but...
  21. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/172017348136050/ Great deal on a 24" with Rear Disc Tabs
  22. I've seen a lot of decent Air Compressors suggested here but something no one has mentioned is to be aware that "the bigger the tank the longer the wait". Aka, if you just want to seat a tire you don't want one of the 20 gal ones. I have a 25 Gal and I use it for everything from bikes to automotive to carpentry. It's an ok compromise for me but If I wanted something just for seating tubeless I'd be looking at a smaller one or those air charger pumps.
  23. Somewhat related but if you need suspension bearings, I fully recommend RWC (aka Enduro Fork Seals). They list everything by bike and individually. In fact, if your bike isn't listed and you provide all of the correct sizes, they will send you a full set. This is how I rebuild my Mission a few years back. https://www.enduroforkseals.com/products/rear-suspension/suspension-pivot-bearing-kits/
