  1. Retail as a whole is dying. Most from their own hand. IMHO, large SQFT stores will all but disappear when the next recession hits.
  2. That was the first one we looked at as it was light enough for my truck to pull it.
  3. Looking good man! Also nice choice on the side entry toy hauler. We looked a few when we were in staying VA and they're totally the way to go!
  4. IMHO, seems a bit of a waste to throw money at a revelation. Resale on Yari will be higher since it has more to offer buyers if you decide to sell. The +/- 300 grams difference between pike and yari is worth it for someone over 200lbs regardless of riding style. My trailbike currently has a pike 150mm and will be replaced with a lyrik. I can feel it moving around on me and I'm around 190lb fully kitted. To each his own though
  5. To be fair, it doesn't seem like too bad of a trail system. Could be a nice break from the typical CTX monotony if it were closer. However, if someone was traveling from CTX, I'd find it hard to make the extra 1hr trip up when Palo Duro is right there. Also Angel Fire is only 4.5 hrs further much less ABQ, NM.
  6. If it were me, I'd buy the fork and then use the serial number to get the correct shaft. There are a lot of options out there . You can also buy a used one and swap the seal/head . Pike fits too
  7. Yari is basically a lyrik with a motion control damper. Same chassis. I've swapped all kinds of parts between RS forks to get the specs I want. That's the nice thing about them. Yari is somewhat overkill for CTX but not many more grams than pike. Good for a heavier rider. Charger dampers are cheap and easy to come by in the future. HTH
  8. I assume its for a 29? https://planetcyclery.com/rockshox-yari-rc-suspension-fork-29-160-mm-15-x-110-mm-42-mm-offset-black-b3?gclid=CjwKCAjwxr2iBhBJEiwAdXECw1oIErkGz7BVmw1rNYpYWqlHNXNlHdZrEaeEg9zWGfn7Co92HjRwUBoCLuoQAvD_BwE Good chassis and can upgrade damper later.
  9. no surprise there. exactly why i avoided that place, and just went a few clicks down the road to spider. Stoked that you had a good time and the flowers were out. that's always a nice bonus
  10. Crystal ball says it sees a Revel Ranger in your future 😁
  11. Switching efforts from exterior renovations back to the garage. Hoping to finally park my truck inside by mid week. Previous owner saw fit to put two giant parking blocks in the garage. Making it impossible to open the closet door more that 12-16". These were some heavy bastards to load by myself, by hand😐 Also, finally realized they have attempted to make the garage fully climate controlled. We shall see.....
  12. Local sotol barrel aged pecan stout. Surprisingly tasty.
  13. For people concerned about weight, Vittoria just upped their game. https://www.pinkbike.com/news/review-vittorias-50g-air-liner-light-promises-run-flat-protection-for-xc-trail.html
  14. They were serving that at Planet Marfa. They also have a local distillery there now too
  15. For you central TX boys, get your hands on this one if you can. Total game changer when it comes to sours.
  16. I'm becoming more and more sold on running a lighter, faster rolling rear tire (within reason) and a Vittoria tire insert. For places like Bentonville or CTX, I'd run a reckon or XC-ish tire in the back and a sticky compound exo assegai up front. I'll never go back to DHF after trying the Assegai. The performance on crappy, loose, flat turns that are so common, cannot be matched. The 29 insert weighed just over 150 grams, smoothed out the back end during high speed chatter, stabilized it during hard cornering (is there such a thing in TX?) and is a great runflat option in case something goes wrong. Not to mention the rim protection it offers too. Particularly with my poor line choices😎 IMHO, the insert sure beats carrying a bunch of BS flat repair kit with you or running 1100+ gram rear tires
  17. I think you'll be fine. Shale can be pretty sharp there, but i don't think its any worse than some of the stuff at deception or Georgetown lake trails etc. FWIW, I've been there several times on schwalbe rock razors and Hans D and never tore a sidewall. Take that with a grain of salt as I really don't tear sidewalls in general. I do rip lugs off like nobody's business🤣 Just the thought of rolling around central TX on minions front and rear makes me tired.
  18. Yeah we left Roanoke in February with the intention of moving to the Carson City/South Tahoe area of Nevada, but decided to wait out the winter for two months in El Paso. After a couple of weeks EP had grown on us enough, we decided to pull the trigger and buy. We'll be here for a couple of years until Canada pulls its head out of its ass and lifts the foreign buyers ban. Never in a million years did i think we'd like it here this much😁
  19. Stopped by for a burger on the way home.
  20. Long overdue. Glad to see you guys are getting some rain. Was 5% humidity here yesterday
  21. Nice upgrade man! That three car's got me droolin'. Made a little progress with the bikes today and also realized how spoiled I had gotten with our old Austin house. Way, way more space than this one. Plus, they put a Gas Heater with a friggin pilot light in a garage that cars from the 1960s were parked in. How this house is still standing is beyond me. The damn thing is also built into the wall and is keeping me from adding the fourth, and last bike. Not going to get into removing that thing right now, so gonna have to get creative.
  22. A younger friend turned mine onto this track. A bit meme-ish in a zoomer kinda way, but pretty catchy.
  23. I struggle with these sometimes. Just seem like a MTB with drop bars which doesn't make much sense to me. In my experience, a real 20-22lb gravel bike goes like stink compared to fat tired heavier bikes. No shade, and to each their own though.
