I ride at that time on weekdays. I start from the YMCA and usually hit 1/4 Notch backwards then forwards. I’d like to try riding in a group to see if I can keep up. Shoot me a message if you have room for a semi-noob.

1. I love it! There are even some days that it's nice enough to ride my MTB on the trails but I'll ride the BMX instead. 2. I chose the Sunday after talking about BMX with a worker at The Peddler. I think his name was Reed? I didn't do too much research before-hand and just sorta went with his suggestions. So far I've been practicing manuals in my apartment's parking lot. I'll also venture out and look for fun stuff to try to hop up onto and off of. As far as parks, I've been to the Brushy Creek Sports park twice now. I don't think bikes are allowed but I haven't gotten yelled at yet. I just respect the skaters and kids and try to get a line in every so often. I heard great things about the Pflugerville park from a guy at EMPIRE BMX. He gave me a cool one page map of places to ride in Austin. -- So far in summary the BMX bike is a ton of fun. At first it felt very little and I felt stupid on it but now it's feeling better to me and I really enjoy simple things on it. I could practice manuals for an hour and be dripping sweat and breathing pretty hard. It burns up the energy that's for sure. And as a plus, I feel more confident and in control of my 29 inch mountain bike after riding the tiny thing.

I'm enjoying it! I've spent most of my time practicing manuals. On the BMX I'm using muscles that I just didn't use very much. I hope the payoff will be better control and skills on the mountain bike.

It has been 12 or so years since I've rode BMX. I need something to do when the trails are wet.

My new bike came tubeless. What sort of preventative maintenance should I be doing? I've googled this but was just curious what you guys would suggest too.

I'll give it a try riding. I was judging my ability to still push it down even while locked, but I think I misunderstood how it should work. Makes sense now. Thanks!

How does a rear lockout work? See my rear shock in the picture. It shows down as unlocked and left as locked. However, when I move it to locked the shock is not locked out and still functions as normal. Whats up with that?

Yup that's me! I went in there considering Yeti and similar popular name brands and the Peddler worker (I think his name is Reid) suggested the Smuggler and I rode it all day around Brushy Creek. I did more riding in a single session that I had ever done. I rode till I was sore that day haha. I've taken it through 1/4 Notch a few times now. Compared to my old hard tail, the ride is now so much more enjoyable and doesn't beat me to death. I'm new to all of this and probably can't speak the proper lingo to describe what I like about the bike in technical terms. It just feels good. I have no complaints. I wish I were riding now. Damn weather.

I am new to full suspension. I just watched an "every 50 hour maintenance" rear shock video and was baffled. Do I really need to take my bike in to a shop every 50 hours for this type of intense maintenance for my shocks? What steps can I take per ride to keep shocks operating correctly?

He said this was apparently a known defect in that batch and he has filed warranty replacements for them. I took the bike back after I left you and he threw on a different rear wheel for me to finish the day on and after that it was a great ride and I enjoyed myself. I'd be buying the same bike I rode. I am going in today to figure out the rear hub issue and what he can do for me about that.

I am demoing a Transition Smuggler alloy. It's marked down from $2999 to $2399 at Peddler. Talk me out of it if you think I'm making a huge mistake, otherwise I think I will buy it given the price point it seems like a nice entry full suspension. I enjoyed riding it yesterday. I am fortunate to make good money, but for that "privilege" I have to give most of it right back to student loans. I've driven myself crazy, literally, over the years worrying about student loan debt and fear of losing a job yada yada yada adult things. Whatever, I'm finally starting to come around to enjoying life while I still can but it's hard to escape thoughts of "do I really need that or should I just throw it at loans?" Enough sad millennial life story. I am 5' 9", 205 lbs. My current bike (Specialized Rockhopper) is a medium so I think that's right. I don't know how medium translates to other manufacturers but I assume some consistency in that medium is medium everywhere. I prefer new but am open to anything right bike right price.

Good question! I don't really know to be honest. 6 months ago I'd have said you were crazy to spend $1500 on a bike. But now after demo'ing the $7000 carbon Mondraker Foxy RR 29, I see what money can buy. What does the bike setup process look like once it arrives to my door? If I buy online, can I assemble myself with only basic tools and basic knowledge or do I buy online and then take it into a shop for a tuning?

Test rode a Mondraker Foxy. Coming from a Rockhopper, that was my first full suspension ride and it blew my mind. Wow. I see what y’all mean when you suggest developing skills on the hard tail before upgrading though. On my normal rides I scope out the least impact lines and avoid obstacles like rocks and roots. But on the demo bike I was able to just ride over anything and everything. It was an awesome first ride. The guys there were cool and nice too.
