The new trail at Brushy is open. It's called Billy Goat in memory of Rob Paulk. I've never seen the quad guy, but about a month ago I did manage to finally catch a teenager on a dirt bike that had been riding Double Down. Caught up to him the BCRT by a taking shortcut through the trees and popping out in front of him. I grabbed his handle bars and politely told him dirt bikes are not allow. He called me sir and apologized, haven't seen him since.

Building Session this Saturday morning at 9:00am. The County has approved a new section of trail that goes from the intersection of Rim and Bob Ross over to the Jeep Road. The plan for Saturday is to remove brush, trim trees, remove stumps, harvest rocks for a creek crossings, and start work on a major bench cut. Meet at the intersection of Rim and Bob Ross at 9:00am. Bring gloves, water, rakes, saws, and pickaxes.

Thanks for the offer to help. Since the damage is big we'd prefer to have organized crews with multiple people. These bent over snapped trees can be very dangerous, they have a tendency to snap back or fall in an unexpected direction. It's much safer to have other people there helping.

Trail update: With some extra help yesterday the BCRT is now cleared from the YMCA to Olson Meadows, that's 5 miles in two days. Unfortunately, the 30+ miles of MTB trail are going to be much harder to clear. Please keep a look out for volunteer days coming soon.

Today ARR Trail Stweards and crew were out at Brushy assessing the damage and clearing the concrete Regional trail. We should have it cleared from the skate park to the ymca by the end of the weekend. I can't stress enough how bad the damage is, every trail is blocked with fallen trees and snapped branches. Based on what i saw its going to take weeks to clear all the trails. We need your help more than ever before. The trails need to dry alot, but plan to come help next weekend.

The fence at Brushy that was torn down last week was permanently fixed today. GreenMTBrider and I moved the fence further back between two trees so it’s a pinch point, there’s no way around it unless you start chopping branches. The posts are cemented into the ground. I re-vegetated the trail by planting grasses and cactus, then placing rocks. You can’t tell it was once a trail. I also blocked the trail beyond the fence with brush, rocks, and cactus.

I know, I'm slowly breaking the ties. I have put a time limit on it and making an effort to not look at it more than once a day. After watching "The Social Dilemma" and "The Great Hack" on Netflix I've started to use social media less and less, with the goal to not be on it more than once a week.

I posted on Facebook about the fence been torn down...People on facebook are ridiculous. Some people started with the whole "It's my land I pay for with taxes, the County can't tell me I can't use it". It highlights what is wrong in society today, 1. People have lost the ability to see their actions affect others. 2. The world is not centered around you. 3. The Government's sole purpose isn't to restrict your rights, their not out to get you. 4. You must compromise, if both sides give up a little everyone gains.

Did anyone see if the fencing at the other end (on Rim) was still up?

**UPDATE Recent Fences/trail closures at Brushy Creek and the Williamson County Southwest Regional Park**. 1. The cedar fence placed near the "YMCA waterfall" was required after a dam inspection by the TCEQ. The hiking trail leading to the area below the waterfall was never designed to be there. The erosion it is causing raised concerns about future dam integrity, so the TCEQ required a fence be placed blocking the trail. 2. The County will be building a fence blocking the new unsanctioned dangerous "drop in" on picnic next to the footbridge. ARR Trail Stewards and volunteers have been trying to block it with brush, but people keep unblocking it. The County in coordination with ARR have agreed to block it permanently with a fence. 3. The unsanctioned MTB trails at the Williamson County Southwest Regional Park were recently fenced off. This happened following an inspection by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife dept. During their inspection they found endangered species and endangered habitat. They required the area to be fenced off.

We have an official name for the new trail at Brushy Creek, "Bob Ross". It still needs some final tweaks before it opens. I think sometime within the next two weeks it should be ready. This trail will connect the end of Double Down to the Start of the Rim Trail. You can walk it and get a sneak peak.

It went good, we got a lot done.
