The Twix UX changed recently. Unless you are logged in you can no longer see a feed chronologically or view the most recent posts. That's Elon trying to force everyone to sign up to access the content, same BS as Facebook etc. Unfortunately it diminishes the value of feeds like BC Trail Conditions as a public service since it will only be useful to logged in Twix users, and Twix is a pit of despair and degeneracy so hard pass.

If you want to make the trail conditions freely available to the public, maybe consider posting them here.  Thank you for doing it.

I was out there today around 2:30 walking my dogs and Rim / Bob Ross / west side of DD were still a bit soft, suitable for walking not riding IMO.

I already cross post on two Facebook pages and I regularly update the austinbike.com Google sheet, so honestly not going to cross post on here often.

  2. Had eyes on it this morning and it was too wet, but left town this afternoon and won’t be able to hit the trails until Monday. If you head out let us know what you think.

On DD, rock move wasn’t done by any of the stewards. Weird shit like that does happen, remember a few years ago someone moved the diving board rock at truth or dare and we had to move it back? I love people.

  3. It’s unclear whether it was 1/4 or Picnic, StarFlight landed in field that’s between the two and I heard there were a lot of Austin Fire Fighters on Picnic, so I’m assuming that’s the trail it happened on. It’s unconfirmed, but reports are the gentleman didn’t make it.

  4. Cool, thanks for working that side. We’ve had three volunteer workdays out there so far, posted on the AAR page and meetup. Started last weekend immediately after the storm clearing the regional trail and worked that Sunday clearing Picnic. Ronan cleared Bob Ross, The Bowl and had a Peddlers workday. William and others cleared Double Down and 1/4. For sure missing others that have been out there taking the time to get things back open. Definitely takes a village…

Anyone been out today? How're the trails after the rain earlier this week? Got about a half inch the other day in west Round Rock. Looking to get out there this afternoon.

Was out there late last night after William posted that trails were mostly good to go. Most trails were good to go then, all should be good to go at this point.

Wouldn’t the fact that someone moved it suggest that it was a feature and someone deemed it difficult enough? It stuck a good 3-4 inches out of the ground and require a small amount of technique to lift your wheel over to finish the climb. Now it’s just a sit and spin. No technique required.

No. That whole section is eroding rapidly, so it very well could have gotten loose and someone (maybe Ronan) moved it.

Not sure how much rain we got last night. Anyone know if trails will be rideable this afternoon?

Almost 0. We got a few sprinkles at around 1:30am, quickly dried.

Unfortunately I’m not in town or I’d get a ride in to confirm, but rain gauges in the area show zero and my front camera shows just what I mentioned above.

  8. Yep, rained here at Brushy yesterday evening. Not for too long but it did have a brief impact.

currently from what I’ve checked in between work:

    1/4 - GTG

    DD - GTG

Rim - was slick yesterday but probably okay now

    Bob Ross - GTG

    Bowl - GTG

  9. I'll take a look at this this weekend and report back here. I'll need help whether we decide to do a slight reroute, rework, or build a small wood feature. Besides Saturday long runs, my weekend schedules are looking good, so we could get a group of us to tackle this soon. There are other areas that are also needing attention.

Truth or dare. Anyone remember when someone moved the diving board rock? What a PITA.

So Brushy is too wet to ride but the race at Peddler's Pass is a go? 😐

Typically how races work, rain or shine. Todd and team will be out there repairing any damage on the race course caused by the race.

Feel free to ride the trails, but they’re going to be super slick and you’re going to get a lot of dirt pickup and rutting in low spots.

Anyone seen the trails since Friday?

I’m still out of town, but heard from Greg that Deception last night was good to go although a little spicy from remaining moisture. Guessing most trails are GTG at this point.

Has anyone checked out the trails today?  I'm not sure how bad the rain was last night.

We didn’t get much rain. My gauge showed about a quarter inch. Currently at the office so I can’t confirm, but my guess is that this afternoon they’ll be fine.

The feature on picnic you are discussing is Ravine Drop.  I still haven't done that one.   It scares the crap out of me.   I've seen it done, but man that thing is intimidating to look at.  Even if I roll down, I got to refocus to make the hard left and then carry momentum to get out.  That's a lot of things that have to go right 🙂

Full send it Bill! I believe in you!
