That ‘silly’ thing has provided more than a few smiles and, at least perceived, airtime. It has served well.

Right, and that's my thought. I mean, I still enjoy popping off of it.

  2. Well I guess the log gave way or someone screwed with it. Rain in the forecast tomorrow, but I’ll reseat it properly Sunday or Monday. Also noticed a lot of face slappers still present, mostly on Double Down, from trees shifting which need to be addressed.

Any ideas of trail conditions after last night's storm?

This morning trails were too muddy. They seem to be drying very quickly. Areas without shade are dry, however, low areas still have standing water and walking the east side of 1/4 Notch 5 minutes ago I was getting some dirt caking on my shoes. 4PM may be good for 1/4. Can’t speak to other trails but it’s possible picnic, Rim, Snow White are GTG based on what I saw on 1/4. Double Down and other shaded trails may need a tad more time.

Thank you for reminding me of this.  Until Wednesday, I had not ventured West of 1/4 entry on the BCRT.  I had seen a lot of clean-up on 1/4, but West of 1/4 on the BCRT, the destruction and the work involved was incredible.  Some of those trees and branches were humongous!  Good work everyone!

Just for the “sanctioned” trails and BCRT...

5+ miles of the BCRT cleared plus mtb trails

    12 volunteers

    45+ person hours

    50+ cleared down trees/limbs

That reminds me, whatever happened the last time EMS was out there?

The one ~2 weeks ago? Spoke to Austin Fire while they were out there. Was told it was a shoulder injury from a cycling accident. Looked like it occurred on Picnic based on where the ambulance drove down to.

It wasn't much. I'm about a mile away and not even a 1/4 inch in my gauge. It rained for all of 4 minutes for me.

I was just out about an hour ago. Ground was soft enough that I was getting dirt picked up on my shoes. It’s drying fast though and even in usually low spots we didn’t have much of any standing water. By noon they’ll likely be bueno.

I’m at Gumdrop now and really all that needs to be done is to “Trim the Trimmings” in a Nirvana’s Serve the Servants spirit. No need to move all that shit. Just cut the trimmings at the West most end of the pile and make a little S turn into the mouth.

Dirt conditions are sweet bewbs too, btw.

Ronan and I are heading over there at 3PM to clear it.

If it isn't gone tomorrow I'll try and get out there Sunday or Monday

I scoped it out today and wow it took some effort for someone to do this. I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t a pissed off neighbor but instead some official.

So it’s going to take more than one person to clear it. Let me know if you’d be up for meeting up tomorrow. I have a chainsaw that’ll make quick work of it.

  9. We will be having an ARR Brushy Workday tomorrow to clear the remainder of trouble areas. We’ll be meeting at Rutledge Elementary school at 10AM and then will split off into groups as necessary.

Bring: Water, gloves, loppers. If you have a chainsaw feel free to bring it.

  10. 1/4 Notch is now clear, but will need some clean up to get rid of punji sticks and some low hanging limbs that may still spring back up. Most of it had been cleared by a gentleman named Brian that we met shortly after we got on the trail at the EMS access point. Thanks to @Cafeend, @horncpa and Brian for the help.

How's Brushy today?  I finally have a new mountain bike after breaking mine over a year ago at Lake Georgetown!  Want to take it out to Brushy for the first time and hit everything out there, including the new stuff I keep reading about.  Have already ridden all the new stuff in Suburban Ninja.  🙂

    Brushys fine, go ride.

  12. Im out here now. Nothing is primo yet and rocky areas are sketchy. Rode the following so far...

    DD - GTG

1/4 - GTG. Some puddles but rideable, tires not caking. East side is tacky and could use more time but rest of trail is fine.

Picnic - GTG. Some wet low spots

Peddlers - East side was good but I was getting too much caking riding the west side so I bailed. I’m going to put the chain up but I’m guessing someone will take it down prematurely.
