  1. 1 adult and one about the size of a quarter this morning.
  2. I'm really interested in checking these out. They are a couple of hours from Bentonville though. My Grandparents lived about 20 minutes from there. Have not been back to the area in 20+ years. They are having an Enduro this weekend and a festival there in October. River Valley Bike Festival.
  3. Cost per mile, pfft! Cost per smile!
  4. 4 things to add. 1: I don't live in Austin so no dog in this hunt. 2: Straight trails are boring. 3: Strava straightens trails, so if you're going to add curves, add distance too, waves will end up just as straight as they were before. 4: Strava is just electronic dick measuring, and going forward you'll have to pay up to see how you measure up.
  5. So the press included the drifts for $38? Got a link? I haven't found that combo on Amazon
  6. Lots of folks have been going out to the desert on President's Day weekend since the early race days in the 90s. People went the year after the marathon race ended and before Desertfest was born. The organizer of the Ultra Run they have every out there is trying to put something together. He was not able to get it permitted in time for this year. He hosted some group rides and a "hospitality barn" at Big Bend Resort and Adventures this year over the weekend. The website is bigbendbikefest.com. You can get on his email list to get updates. The trails are open year round, pick some dates and go.
  7. No opinion on the all the usual previous shit show. But sad to report that Dirt Rag announced this week that they will be folding up. No print mag, no dirt fests, no website. Anyone who wants to start a print mag in this day and age must need one hell of a tax write off.
  8. was a great time, caught me in one of the pics there as well. thinking about trying SSAZ in Feb.
  9. I have the aluminum channels around the top of the bed in my Nissan. I have Rockymounts Driveshaft holders bolted to the front channel. Most of the time, I don't use the rack to elevate the rear of the bikes, but it is nice for camping to free up more space in the bed. With the rear end of the bikes down in the bed, I can drive right into the garage with the bikes in the back.

  11. Signed up, need to get the bike ready.
  12. Registration is up. https://www.bikereg.com/ssusaatx2019#Register
  13. My wife has MS and her car has plates, and we have a placard for the rare times she rides in my truck. MS is another of the "invisible" diseases. Just because she doesn't look sick doesn't mean she can walk far, especially in the TX summer heat.
  14. Never seen a cougar, although there are occasional sightings out here. Have seen a few bobcats over the years. The State Park has a wildlife viewing blind and I lucked out one night and got some pics and video of this one.
  15. Decent hubs, and Shimano brakes. Hubs are hard to change, Shimano brakes are easy to work on. Drivetrains all work pretty well these days. Most other parts are easy/cheap to swap.
  16. 30 years riding the State Park out here I've seen hundreds. Western Diamondbacks, Coachwhips, Bullsnakes, Rat Snakes, 1 Hognose, lots of Diamondback Watersnakes, a few Water Moccasins. Also Ornate Box Turtles, Horned Toads, Tarantulas.
