  1. Too late to reserve a good spot. I'll have to bum my way into someone's campsite just like last year.
  2. I'd rather change up the destinations for each annual C&D Gone Wild event. But wherever the hive mind decides I'll be there.
  3. I might be a special kind of stupid but the few times I've been to Reimers I understood it was all directional by the signs with arrows going one way. Now and then I was passing them the wrong direction. Mea culpa.
  4. It's true. Got a dirt bath following one other rider on Sunday.
  5. Is the used market not coming around? I really haven't been paying much attention, but a year ago I heard predicitons for a glut of barely used bikes on craigslist.
  6. Yeah thankfully SF Brewing makes it here as of a few years ago. But last time I tried, I couldn't get a keg of anything from SF Brewing. The others dont make it here even in cans. 😞 I like this space monkey discussion. I have nothing to add but I'm following with great interest.
  7. "ABQ is a hellscape" 👍 SF is missing just enough stuff regular ABQ trips are necessary though. If only we could get someone to distribute La Cumbre or Marble here. Usually load up the car with the stuff on the home. Used be the same for SF Brewing and now I can get Happy Camper at HEB so I guess there is hope.
  8. Having to send my unvaccinated kids to school in a week. Very worried. One small consolation:
  9. New garage who dis? Still formulating plans but I'm thinking bench w/ storage, toolbox, and workspace on left. Either wall hanging or angle in bike storage on the right. Tool box is in the other garage for now. Can't figure out how to keep the squishy floor and do all the things. I like the squishy floor it's fun to walk on but as soon as I spill something gross on it I imagine it's done. Beer fridge is in the laundry just inside so I've got that covered.
  10. @Cafeend Gross I hate it! Also were you trying for the Jeff Goldblum pose or just lucky?
  11. How did you get live footage of me in the garage stripping aluminum threads, cracking carbon parts, and warping wheels?
  12. Good points by AB but for me the difference between "gambling" in the market vs crypto. If I lose 50% of my net worth in a stock market crash so did everyone else. Bad things will happen but I didn't lose relative to most things. If I lose 50% of my net worth in crypto the world moves on without me and $9 tacos from the trendy taco truck probably cost $10 now because some influencer from Cali posted about it.
  13. We had it thinned up a lot trying to keep weight off for as long as possible. Drive through the neighborhood after a storm and you'll see some Bradford's knocked down. It's just about that time since all this was built.
  14. Probably not freeze related but I had one of those Bradford Pear trash trees fall on a house last week. Damage to the house, removal, stump grinding (giggity), and new tree are all adding up. I was kind of hoping it was the next owners problem 😞
  15. That's a lot of missing plane on that Metro. Surprising for sure.
  16. My basic instinct does seem to get trails crossed and uncrossed sometimes.
  17. So you are saying ultimately I was right the other day when I "accidentally" took the 3rd hole. That sounds bad. Whatever, I'm leaving it.
  18. Worked around those Fairchild Metro's for a minute when I was a ramp rat. It's a tank and an empty one goes like a bat outta hell.
  19. Yeah maybe once it breaks in and get's used to holding a bottle it will be easier to slip in on the go. I almost ate shit riding one handed through a rock garden trying to put it in once. Also most of the bouncy feeling was when the bladder was full. Not so much with the bottle. More testing needed.
  20. Rode with the new EVOC lumbar pack twice now. Can't say I have been immediately won over. It's either on loose enough to bounce around on rough stuff or its on so tight I have gut squeezing out above and below the belt. Used up all the water in the bladder and then I was annoyed because I couldn't figure out how to 1 hand the bottle back into the sleeve. Hopefully that's just a skill to develop. I'll keep using it for shorter rides this summer. Maybe unlock some secrets with experience.
  21. If I had to choose between Manitoba and Texas I'd choose Texas. -30 can F right off. I'm still going to complain about the heat here for at least 6 months of the year. 40 years and I haven't acclimated yet. Someday I'm either going to own a pool or I'm going to rage quit Texas and move. Most likely on a day in September when its 100+.
  22. I don't do well in the heat and I use a lot of water when it's warm out. I've mostly ridden with backpacks and I like having half a bike shop with me on rides just in case. Over the years I learned to accept a gross sweaty weight on my back that just trapped body heat once the ice melted. That was until I got the Osprey Syncro 5. (suddenly infomercial) The Syncro series has a trampoline back section that let a lot of airflow though. It's mostly just mesh touching your shirt instead of pads with grooves. I've never felt like those groves were doing much aside from making sure sweat channeled to my ass crack efficiently. This system works better than any of the past backpacks I've had from the basic no frills camelback to other high end bags with vented channels. I'm going to keep the backpack for longer rides but I want to mess around with a hip pack this summer and see how that works out. Looking at that Evoc 3l.
  23. Yeah that was a good ride. Glad I was able to show you around and have a beer after. Perfect cap to the weekend. Thanks to The Tip for organizing the inaugural C&D Gone Wild weekend! My goal of wringing out every last drop from my legs was a success. Yesterday afternoon all I could do was hold down the couch.
