  1. No way. That guy's a jerk! 2 years ago I took freakin' 10+ minutes off the best ever Goodwater loop. Apparently this sent a shit-ton of emails to this Cook fellow. He then proceeded to best my time by another 5 minutes!  TWO DAYS LATER! I mean, shouldn't he have been working on HVAC systems instead?
Joking obviously. We're kudo buddies now and I even met him once at a Peddler's Pass work day. He certainly seems like a fine fellow (and a seriously fast mountain biker) and I'd get him to do some HVAC business if I needed it. Although maybe not on a Tuesday. He seems to take those days off to steal KOMs.
I take it back. KOM stealers are the worst

  2. Anyone here an HVAC tech? I have a ducted mini that I installed but need a tech to charge it and start it the first time.

  3. I saw them Thursday. They were chalk on the ground. This last rain should wash them away. I assumed something to do with little Bella's.

There is a running group called Hashers or something that does this as well.

    Sound like this....?

At a hash, one or more members ("hares") lay a trail, which is then followed by the remainder of the group (the "pack" or "hounds"). Sawdust, flour, or chalk are usually used to mark the trail. The trail periodically ends at a "check," The pack must find where it begins again; often, the trail includes false trails, short cuts, dead ends, check backs, and splits. These features are designed to keep the pack together despite differences in fitness level or running speed, as front-runners are forced to slow down to find the "true" trail, allowing stragglers to catch up.

Members sometimes describe their group as "a drinking club with a running problem," indicating that the social element of an event is as important, if not more so than any athleticism involved. Beer remains an integral part of a hash. However, the balance between running and drinking differs between chapters, with some groups placing more focusing more on socializing and others on running.

  4. Anyone hit Randy’s elbow recently? The takeoff has this weird dip right before it, I think from people braking at the top. It’s not much at all but I ate shit pretty hard going off it today. Wasn’t sure if that was the reason or just a minor brain fart by me. Probably the latter.

I'll go fix it. Haven't been hitting it since my injury .

Been wanting to make minor improvements to it anyways

... which recently disappeared because it probably "killed someone's flow"... [emoji849]

Well not condoning intentional trail mods by non trail stewards BUT that log "feature" as of late was really just a speed bump. The telephone poles were basically just sitting on top of the dirt. It may have just been dislodged and moved off to the side. It has been along time since that was a feature that had dirt on it

  6. Somebody on Nextdoor gave me three Chamberlain belt drive units. Only need two. Couple years old. Want one? Also, just upgraded my wheels to nylon rollers, that helped our belt system to be even quieter.

I know you offered to him but I would be very grateful for this. My unit is repaired on the regular. That is if he doesn't want since it was directed to him.

  7. I always give it a little pop when I go over it.  It never occurred to me that I'm getting less air because it's smaller now.  I just assumed I suck.  I guess both could be true too [emoji848]
Werd. Traveling E to W its no big deal and can still "pop" off it I guess. But W to E it's just a speed bump. I don't care either way if stays or goes. Just offering my 2 cents. When I first built it I didn't know much about trail building and would do it way differently today to make it last longer.

  8. Well I guess the log gave way or someone screwed with it. Rain in the forecast tomorrow, but I’ll reseat it properly Sunday or Monday. Also noticed a lot of face slappers still present, mostly on Double Down, from trees shifting which need to be addressed.

Is it really worth putting back? When it was covered with dirt it was a small kicker but in its current form it serves no purpose IMO

  9. I scoped it out today and wow it took some effort for someone to do this. I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t a pissed off neighbor but instead some official.

So it’s going to take more than one person to clear it. Let me know if you’d be up for meeting up tomorrow. I have a chainsaw that’ll make quick work of it.

I would think anyone official would have posted signage or something to that affect. But that is one huge pile. If it was county you or Ronan would have known by now. If it was MUD official I would think a sign at minimum. The t post fence awhile back was more official than this and nothing happened after it was moved.

It almost looks like someone drug tons of branches from off the trail itself. Wonder if a resident didn't like the cleanup efforts and drug it all into plain view also blocking access?

    Anyways

I'll be at work tomorrow for 24. . Won't be available til Sunday or Monday

  10. THANK YOU! I can't count how many times I have blocked that. That and the lesser traveled one that exits at the base of the dam spillway.
Yea. Saw that one too. But it at least isn't as obvious. But it will need to be blocked. Problem with this particular section is that there are tons of ways to cut down. I think a few signs are in order.. but...Besides building a fence I don't have an answer that solves it.

  11. FYI, someone blocked Gumdrop, same spot that someone built a half assed fence for before. I haven’t been over there all week but plan to check it out after my 3pm meeting to clear it.
Do you know what it is blocked with? I have a t post puller if they did that again

  12. Caddyshack cleared now. For those of you who ride that section it would be great if you could keep an eye out for paths like the picture below coming down from trail to bcrt and block or re block them. There can't be any direct intersections from this trail or Snail touching bcrt. I blocked it fairly well up top. Haven't covered the visible path as I didn't have a rake on me.

  13. Can anyone with a chainsaw meet me on Gumdrop East and help me clear it?  It’s legit and the space is tight. It’s just a little ways in headed West from the East Olson Meadows entrance.  Thinking Wednesday morning?

  14. We will be having an ARR Brushy Workday tomorrow to clear the remainder of trouble areas. We’ll be meeting at Rutledge Elementary school at 10AM and then will split off into groups as necessary.

Bring: Water, gloves, loppers. If you have a chainsaw feel free to bring it.
Sat or Sunday? I'm assuming Sat since you posted last night?

  15. Oh goodie... now I can just ride the bitch line down per usual. Why are you such a big swollen sack of discharge? PLEASE tell me.

I initially did it for you and your love for swollen sacks. I kept it for me

  16. Snail is mostly cleared.
*Lines 1, 2, Highline, 5 and everything in ravine are cleared.
*Line 3 is passable but you gotta weave around a few downed branches.
*Climb Route that goes up the middle is still a disaster
*Line 4 I never looked at so unknown

By Friday it should all be cleared

  17. Your weight forward on the way down?  Then you push the bars forward.  Do you rock your weight back?  I find I push with my feet forward which transfers weight back.  In some cases I sort of manual it down if it's sharp.  But I would try a better way if possible.

So I'm no mtb coach... but for me ...The main goal of pushing into the sharp g out is to compress the fork and keep it compressed as you come up the other side which reduces the shock forces on. If you lean back and go into g out unweighted the fork will violently compress once it hits the opposing wall and rebound with very little control because you aren't weighting or over the bars.

So pump INTO the g out and treat that particular one like you are doing a rock step up but without the hard pull on bars. Pump into G and then stand up and pedal out at top. It's better to stay centered over your BB

  18. I'm going to have some lumber I will not be using.  1 8ft treated 4x4.  A few shorter 4x4 pieces, some treated tread planks (with the rounded edge), etc.  Let me know if you need this or something else.  I also have heavy duty nails.
Always. I can come get it. Or just meet at Snail. DM me.
