  1. With the oval chainrings it's key to make sure they're clocked properly. As to the spacers, I love the Endless Bike Fibonacci spacer set because it allowed me to get the chainline perfect. It's super smooth.
  2. I saw it a couple of weeks ago. It was on the descent trail coming down from the top by the stores. Definitely caught me by surprise. I think we should call it The Brain b/c a white rodent surviving with all the red tail hawks around has got to be smart.
  3. Yeah the comments were not kind to Bruni. I think most everyone else agreed on the format: no semis, 60 qualify for 30 to make the finals which will be on TV. The number for women is less but there was less agreement other than it needs to be more than 10. BTW, WBD may also kill HBO/Max with their decisions.
  4. 1 minute into Bernard Kerr and it already sounds like WB/Discovery may kill world cups too. I hadn't realized the format changed b/c of them.
  5. Shit. You weren’t kidding… GCN+ and the GCN app will be closing on 19 December 2023 in all countries and regions. GCN+ subscribers will receive a refund for the time remaining on their subscription. Cycling fans can continue to enjoy cycling content at globalcyclingnetwork.com and the GCN YouTube channel. To find out where you can watch cycling events previously available on GCN+, go to Where can I watch cycling events? …of course in the US we’re fucked bc it doesn’t seem at this point that even discovery+ is an option like in the UK. Please RedBull pick it up!! On 12/19 I’m deleting my GCN account. I’m expecting FloSports to fold too given the settlement and layoffs….
  6. Some of those are essentially motorcycles. I see people going well over 20mph not pedaling. Specifically the ones with the fatter tires. For that matter the scooters are dangerous as well. People don’t realize the result of hitting a pedal at 20mph with small tires.
  7. Where I grew up gardeners used machetes to edge lawns and trim weeds and such. I have a fiskars machete I got for dealing with bamboo. My first take is this is for clearing trail. Now get me a mount for my Ryobi battery 10” chainsaw and I’m interested!
  8. My main bike had a broken seat post clamp that I couldn't get a part in before the Palo Duro marathon, so I tried to get my old bike (2010 Tallboy) that was setup for my wife. I got pedals and seat moved over, and a new tire, with fresh sealant only to find out the shock was not holding air. This bike has not been ridden in about 3 years or so. So I went to my P29er SS and did a single painful lap on it before pulling the plug (super fun trail...started riding slow to conserve energy/legs but that's boring, so I decided to just ride a fun lap). When I finished, the fork lowers (yep, both) were completely covered in shock oil that had leaked from the seals. This bike is stored hanging from the rear tire, so the uppers are lower than the lowers. The Tallboy is stored hanging from the handlebar and the seat. 1. Do we need to cycle the shocks/forks every once in a while to keep them lubed? 2. Anyone else storing bike from rear tire experience leaking oil?
  9. If you have an Orbea that has a 37mm seat post clamp: 1. Check it for cracks 2. Buy a spare or two to keep in your toolbox (nobody stocks it in town)
  10. BTW, those of you that like the dark heavy beers, HEB had the bomber 6-pack for around $10. (Black Quad, Real Heavy, Comissar) I hope that brewery makes it!
  11. Yeah, also location relative to trailheads is a plus I think.
  12. I think the places that will remain will be the ones that have consistent food, good ambiance. Pinthouse Pizza has pizzas until closing time, while some have food trucks that change, or run out of food early, or close the kitchen very early. Being adjacent to walkable neighborhoods is a plus as well.
  13. It’s passable. Caterpillar tracks go right through and past Gandalf. Entry to Balrog is messed up.
  14. I’ve had creaking from the multi-part Shimano cassette.
  15. Came here to post the same. So weird how they did it.
  16. What’s the plan? Urban ride? Postpone? ABGB?
  17. It may be a cool idea to grab a handful of those rear lights and keep in your car to hand out when you see people riding at night without them.
  18. that worked. Is your e-bike powering that lamp? 🙂
  19. I tried this. Maybe 10 years ago I bought a 1994 Rockhoper. It was in pristine condition (other than tires and brake pads being dry) with original clean chain grease. Someone bought it back then maybe rode it once on the street and hung it up. I replaced the parts and rode it at WC. It was not enjoyable.
  20. Hah! Other memories you stirred up. I think I went to Ritchey clueless pedals. They were yellow but I never got used to them. I went back to toe clips until crank brothers egg beaters came out.
