  1. Only had time for a quick ride. Picnic, 1/4 Notch, and Rim are all in great shape. Mulligan was fine except for that one massive mud hole in front of the U-turn, which kind of makes it not even worthwhile. Although I didn't ride Double Down, I'm sure it's fine too. Hard to know what the status of Peddlers is but hopefully somebody else can give a report on that.
  2. What a spectacular day today! I'm going to be heading out to ride around 2pm and hope to find most of the trails in good shape.
  3. I might go if we get back in town on Fri instead of Sat. It looks like you can register at the event, which is good for folks like me who may or may not even be in town.
  4. These are great stories for inspiring us single lappers to push for more next year. @Kyle I'm curious how you feel today given the lack of training / preparation and yet still pushing yourself to complete 3 laps. Great choice of rocks BTW! The guy on the light blue Chumba SS was probably Andrew Sayers - a real beast on the bike!
  5. Nice! Did you find a spot on the podium? Regarding the chainring, they really need to start making those from carbon
  6. There are some truly impressive numbers posted on Strava from yesterday's event. There are guys finishing 3 laps in times better than what my best effort would produce for 2 laps, and some of them were on single speeds! For me it was really just a learning experience. It was actually the first time I've ever even tried consuming solids while riding. I had some jelly beans and gel blocks in my front pocket and even had enough sense to open the packages prior to starting. However, I didn't have enough sense to keep the pocket unzipped and quickly learned that getting the pocket unzipped with only one hand would in itself be a chore. I finally managed to do that while dodging rocks with one hand on the bar. Then because I was wearing my thicker insulated gloves I couldn't really get anything out of the packaging. Finally I managed to just dump the contents of the two packages into my pocket and would just grab what I could at various times throughout my time on the course. Suppose I could have just stopped, but I was determined not to get off the bike unless I really had to. With an 11am start, my only goal was to not get passed by the 3 lappers on their final lap.

Yeah that was nice to see, although they'll be a different team with Curry back on the floor. Looks like Aldridge went beast on them last night with Green sitting! This is starting to look like it's going to be a great NBA season with plenty of talent both East and West this year.
  8. Kudos to anybody who finished 2 or 3 laps out there today! The conditions were not optimal but seemed to improve as the day went on. I opted for only a single lap at the 11am start time but did manage to beat my previous best lap time by 30 minutes, finishing in 3:17 today.
  9. Current forecast appears to be for less than 1/10 of an inch of rain coming tonight and clearing up by start time, albeit still cloudy for the duration of the event. Temps should be in the 50s throughout.
  10. Not local but I was introduced to them locally ….
  11. Accudata but now it's reduced to 50%. Hopefully that will diminish even further between now and Sunday.
  12. Forecast right now is 70% chance of rain Sun morning. Sure hope that changes, especially given how nice the weather is going to be today and tomorrow. Would be nice to at least get one extra day like this!
  13. Wow I'm surprised it hasn't sold yet, even at the $1400 price with those upgrades and how well maintained it is. I have the same bike, which has been relegated to my backup bike but I still love riding it. I've made similar upgrades.
  14. I rode all of Double Down, 1/4 Notch, and Rim today and all were OK. Didn't check any of the other trails, but saw somebody who told me that Peddlers was definitely too wet.
  15. I rode Double Down, 1/4 Notch, and Rim today and all were OK for anybody trying to go out in the morning. I'm out for this week though due to other commitments.
  16. I noticed that my Strava didn't register the SSlayer segment, although my miles were actually greater - 26.6 vs. 26.4. Could just be because I started at CB instead of Russel, although I didn't thing that mattered on Strava as long as you cover the complete segment. It does look like I added a short triangle at Walnut Springs, but I'm pretty sure I was following whatever signs were posted there. Also looks like either my GPS failed or I got off track going through Russel Park. I do remember at one of the crossings cutting across a grassy median to get to where the Race sign was on the other side. Suppose I should have looped around on the street instead. https://www.strava.com/activities/1965255238/overview
  17. There were probably half-a-dozen or so spots on the trail where you had to ride through some mud, but other than that the conditions were perfect. I walked all but 2 of the crossings I think, which was made easy by rocks and branches that had been placed for that purpose.
  18. I've been registered since Aug 16 and finally made it out there today for a practice lap. Finished in 3:45 without pushing too hard, but it still took a lot out of me. I'm still planning on 2 laps though …… the one I did today and another one on Sunday.
  19. Any advice on rest days prior to the event? I'm thinking that I'll take my final training rides Wed-Thu, take a light ride Fri, and then have a complete rest day on Sat. Thoughts?
  20. Watching some of his behind the scenes stuff let's you know just how sketchy some of these moves are. Hard to believe he could even come back from the kind of injury he sustained back in 2011.
  21. But what happens when the ice melts?
  22. Nice looking Carbine! Bet it delivers a plush but efficient ride over that treacherous terrain.
