I thought I was the only one. I've been doing this since I started riding in college. My percentage has improved over the years, but I started closer to 50/50… so it's still not good.

Yes. Admittedly not a bike snob, and not all that weight conscious. But I ride hard and ride a lot, and love rolling 29+.

Haha, good catch. I was about to reply that I rode through there this morning and didn't see that at all. Cuz it wasn't there, lol. That drop line to the right after this looks like it's gonna be cool. And I didn't end up in the trees either 🙂

Funny. I haven't hit either of these yet either, but I've been working up the guts to give it a shot. The snail one seems like a better start to me for some reason. Seems like the landing is more gradual at snail, the church drop almost looked flat.

+1. I've been using this for about a year now. I've got the multi tool, plugs, and patches all stored inside. Strap a tube to the frame and you've got everything you need in one hand package.

Sounds like you're missing some. Gumdrop, snow white, gnargasm, caddy shack are all across the creek, not just across the BCRT. Go over the footbridge just east of champion, trail goes east and west from there.

+1. Especially as part of a longer ride including Suburban Ninja! And the techy bit of trail at the far east end of Gumdrop is some of my favorite "tech flow" out there once you're able to ride it clean.

Rode after work today. Gates at both ends of the trail, one at the top of the double track, and one at the start of the climb after The Rim exit.

Sad to hear this, but I'll respect the closure. I've kinda known that that trail wasn't ever made official, but I always wondered why... any chance you could satisfy my curiosity with an explanation of the county's logic in approving everything but that one section of trail?

I've been watching this thing evolve over the past couple weeks. It was rideable for a little bit, with the correct line choice it was sort of a double drop, with neither being too big, but still plenty sketchy. Now it's gone full send, lol. It looks like there's some lumber nearby, I'm guessing there's gonna be some sort of wooden roll or landing?

How old's your KM? If it's old enough to run 135/100QR, I've got a wide wheelset you could borrow or buy for cheap. They're a little beat up, but good enough to see if you like it.

Here's my old setup: Rider: 190lbs Rims: 35mm internal Tires: 29x2.4 Pressure: ~22 front, 25 rear Bike: Steel hardtail (Karate Monkey) Riding: Pretty much anything. no huge hucks or anything, but lots of chunk (3lap dragonslayer, double down at brushy), and moderate drops (2-3 ft) Loved the setup. I rode the same bike on mellower terrain (midwest) for about a year with narrow rims, and the wide rims made a noticeable difference in stability, comfort, and grip. Never tried inserts, so I can't compare 🙂

I experienced it on a trip to England one time. I was on a work trip, and the company I was visiting had some guys who ride, so they took me out. We did a 10-20 mile ride from village to village, weaving around through dirt roads, paths through fields and sheep pastures,, etc. A lot of the fences between property had steps over them where the paths crossed. The coolest were the old stone fences, with steps built right in via stones turned sideways and sticking out. Throw your bike over your shoulder, climb over, and you were on your way :). I remember thinking how cool it was to be able to ride to the next town over, stop at a pub, and ride back without spending much time at all on the road. Especially for a country with European population density.

We should talk. I've been mapping out basically the same thing. Not sure when I'll get to do it, but there's potential for a pretty epic ride.

It's a little tricky, since there's no adjustment. I had to print a couple before I got the beam in the right spot. If anyone else has a new model Fox Flux helmet, I'd be happy to give it a shot. If you're into CAD/3D printing, I'll send you the file to tweak it and try it out.
