  1. Go over to Stuffed on 620 and get some of their andouille. Whole pork smoked sausage vs the ground stuff at H-E-B makes a world of difference. You can also smoke the chicken, duck, whatever a bit before boiling. My fav is with a couple of swamp rabbits or wild duck šŸ°šŸ¦†
  2. You think that footage is brutal, the multiple angle one Gee Atherton released of his recent crash was way worse to me. Really crazy is the version he narrated saying basically itā€™s what I do for a living. I know the risks, know Iā€™ll get hurt doing it, and soon as I finish rehab Iā€™ll go right back to it. Really eye opening commentary on how some of these guys view ā€œextreme sportsā€.
  3. My old riding buddy Nick was an adventure racer that liked to race TMBRA too back in the 90ā€™s to early 00ā€™s. Every Rocky Hill Race the roadies would haul ass across the field to the water tank hill then bog it up at that little drop zone gully below the camp ground. Nick would piss them off by shouldering his bike and running all the way up thru the camp ground to the gate at the top where fat chucks starts. What really pissed them off was not only was he fast on foot but heā€™d laugh like a madman at everyone that hollered at him.
  4. Cool. Never seen a black rat snake, just the tan ones. White belly sounds on point. Canā€™t see it in the pic.
  5. Hard to tell for sure without seeing head, but moccasins tend to be short and fat vs long and slender. You usually can pick up some of the pattern on them too. My guess would be non venomous water snake.
  6. Iā€™ll just deal @Albert Donā€™t want to add that much trouble for you if thereā€™s just a few of us using it.
  7. Has Tapatalk login started working for anyone yet? Not sure if itā€™s fubar still or I just forgot my password again. šŸ™„
  8. Smoke and mirrors IMO. Battery production is not exactly clean and CA would be up his ass. TXā€™s TCEQ is a fuckin joke. Chartering in Texas and battling in TX courts vs CA courts is the more likely endgame. A few extra zeros on CA R&D payroll vs fewer halts in production aka revenue stream in TX, which is the likely scenario?
  9. Look at the feet and pedals. Jeff's pedals are level, you've gotten into a position were it's a little harder to do, but one foot up it's hard to punch without getting your momentum a little off camber. Then you suck up some inertia trying not to fall to one side. Also feet, Jeff's feet are toes down. That flick down as you spring up with the legs does a ton towards shooting your momentum not just up, but up and forward.
  10. Just for shits and giggles I tried Peatyā€™s a while back when I found a bargain that put it below Stanā€™s price locally. Itā€™s got a lot of floaty stuff thatā€™s similar to glitter in it. Peaty is big on biodegradable and enviro friendly so no ammonia, glitter is biodegradable and packaging minimal and recycled materials. Actually sealed a sidewall nick I got a while back. Unfortunately it was a bit too big and opened up before I made it all the way out but seems to have gotten a few other things. Still need to give it the worn tire how much shit is still stuck in my tire long term test but so far so good.
  11. Thought I heard them say she got offline and hit a big compression hole right before the lip. So her suspension unloaded and shot her OTB. She really rag dolled!
  12. Blue Heron having some mid morning sushi along the NWC trail. Had stopped to try to get a pic of a buck scrambling up the hill just west of metric then spotted this guy.
  13. Compared to where their main house is south of the Bay Area itā€™s pretty cheap. LOL Luckily they like when poor southern relatives visit. [emoji6] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. I like visiting PNW this time of year for the mild extra long summer days. Just not sure Iā€™d be as enthusiastic about the short rainy/icy winter days. A relative recently bought a place just outside Bend. I need to check out the dry side of the Cascades before deciding if I could deal year round. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. My wifeā€™s HS BFF from here lives in a smaller town on the west side of Puget Sound and is married to a local. Good people weā€™ve met visiting up there but I think itā€™s a lot more conservative leaning than you think. Trust me, get outside of Seattle proper and you hit the anti mask bubba crowd reeeeeeal quick. Add to that the military presence along the sound and I read just as many antimask post from people there as here. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. Life360 is great for LoJac-ing the kiddo but we use it for us too. Hilarious when a friend first introduced us to it 6-7 years ago. She gets an alert on her phone, dials her teenage son and starts grilling him on why heā€™s doing 60 in a 35 in a rough hood miles from her house. Kids canā€™t let go of that phone even when doing shit they shouldnā€™t. Like how it gives you the alert if they try to turn you off. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. My wifeā€™s cousin from DĆ¼sseldorf will be here for Christmas so Iā€™ll get the scoop from him. He works all over Western continental Europe, mainly Spain Portugal France and Germany. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. My motherā€™s November trip to Spain got delayed indefinitely last week. They may start restricting access to Americanā€™s in other places soon. And she was fairly certain Spain was one of the more liberal on travel restrictions. [emoji2955] Hoping it eases off again by next summer. The MIL was planning to take my daughter to visit family in Germany for her graduation present next year. Wife was probably going but I was still on the fence pending this idiocy improving. 19. Not exactly XC light and a bit warmer but Iā€™ve been wearing Shimano enduro style ME-7ā€™s for a few years for this reason. Too many slips and ankle twists on 20 years of Sidi Dominators. Mine have a easy to walk in Michelin sole and thereā€™s a neoprene cuff that keeps 100 % of all dirt/gravel from getting in the shoe. https://www.rei.com/product/178866/shimano-me7-mountain-bike-shoes-mens?CAWELAID=120217890010683257&CAGPSPN=pla&CAAGID=104474362029&CATCI=pla-580970790450&cm_mmc=PLA_Google%7C21700000001700551_1788660001%7C92700056047375725%7CNB%7C71700000066356832&gclid=Cj0KCQjw7MGJBhD-ARIsAMZ0eeufSDuJtTIj25liT1erJCuHbqUGxul8jhncysUaGYnJcBSYNn0-frwaAqO-EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds Thereā€™s a lower cuff boa version the me5 I think. 20. This! Sour beers are like cat piss to me, IPAā€™s are a beer of last resort. Iā€™ll take a Kolsch over IPA on a hot day every day. Straight from the brewery in Cologneā€¦yum! I usually try the darker selection over Pilsner at each stop. Altbier from DĆ¼sseldorf is my favorite since my wifeā€™s uncle got me hooked on Gatzweiler at his local pub. Bockā€™s and some of the dark wheat beers down in Bavaria that you just donā€™t find here. Like AB I like how each German town has its own brands and most pubs just sell one brand. Every meal or pub stop you can try something completely different. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. I donā€™t know about accurate, but I had to switch to consistent when I went to high volume ultra low pressure plus tires. I use the same mini topeak digital gauge no matter the pump or compressor I use. 2 psi low and Iā€™m rolling the tires on the sidewall. My favorite pump is a 35 y.o. Zefal floor pump, but the gauge is all over the place sub 30 psi. At 110 itā€™s close. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  22. I went stupid simple so I didnā€™t have to explain it constantly or try to figure out what they did to it. [emoji849] SmartTv with all the music & video service apps built in with Bluetooth capable sound bar and Bluetooth sub with add on Bluetooth speakers. 99% of our audio and video use is off streaming so it seemed less involved than the receiver/amp route I would have done 20 years ago. Crazy how much cheaper itā€™s gotten. Got a 37ā€ Samsung with soundbar & wireless sub under $1000 last Christmas. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. That would be Mississippiā€™s poison control. [emoji849] I was in HS working for a vet in the early 80ā€™s when Eqvalan (original brand name of ivermectin) came out as an injectable horse wormer. It got yanked within months because if you hit a blood vessel it was potentially lethal to horses. It came back a few months later as an oral paste for horses, but was ok as an injectable for cows. Thatā€™s what bubba, who couldnā€™t do his kids 5th grade math & science homework 6 months ago, wonā€™t get. It works differently in different dosage in different size, weight and species. Hell it even kills heartworms in dogs. Great broadband anti parasite drug if given in the correct doze and correct method. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  24. In the heat a big (24 oz) bottle I found I tolerate a not quite full scoop with half a NUUN. Skratch is a bit too sugary at their proportions. On longer hot rides I just put 5-6 scoops in a bottle and water only in camelbak. Easier cleanup and you always have some water for your head or to clean sweaty glasses. Lately I notice Iā€™m good with hydration with 2 bottles but tend to get behind at times with the pack. Harder to see just how much youā€™ve had to drink. Went so long without a pack from back issues so need to get better. For those that tried Fanny packs and disliked them, I got bibs with pockets and really like them with a loose jersey. Two bottles in them is much more comfortable than a jersey tugging down or a Fanny pack moving around. My frame only has room for 1 cage so it was the best option for packless. 25. Some of the goofy stuff you see on DIY kids bikes builds is both hilarious and a head shaker. Years ago some nimrod music teacher at TX State posted a kids bike with the fork backwards like that. His explanation for selling was the kid found the steering/bike unstable, crashed hard, and refused to ride it. [emoji849] Guess who had put it together. Double [emoji849] I message him to flip the fork around and see if kid will ride it, but at least fix it before selling it to someone else so their kid is safe. Idiot sends back a tirade on how he built and there was no possible way to put a fork on backwards. Lesson learned. Never argue with Craigslist boneheads.
