Tree, rock, ledge, berm, etc. will change that math in a heartbeat. I think that a mtb rider would be faster on an emtb. However, if you aren't comfortable on a normal bike on the trail, an emtb will find your limits just that much quicker. Amen to that. It's a recipe for injury.
RidingAgain
There's a fella in my apartment complex that has an ebike... Every time he passes me working in my garage he is flying... And not really peddling. Those things can move.
ATXZJ
Have a buddy back in Utah who's a pretty capable rider and he got a specialized levo as a gift. That bike has quickly made him a believer. Edited August 18, 2020 by ATXZJ
crazyt
An Ebike is absolutely great when you want to work on downhill skills. You can get so many more runs in.
cmc4130
Just an update: on behalf of Austin Ridge Riders, I worked with a Travis County grants writer to apply for a State grant to finish out the flow trail system at Reimer’s (four downhill trails and one return). We won the $200K grant! (There is not a specific date though to get started planning and building). 4
AustinBike
I have a shovel, ping me when it happens. Especially if it is a weekday 🙂

It’s a great shame that the Austin Ridge Riders seem to have no social media presence whatsoever.

Yeah, Tony, so I don't frequent this page that much, but that doesn't mean "no social media presence whatsoever." Check out Walnut Creek Mountain Biking Facebook Group, for example. I'm the ARR Trail Steward for WC and I post all work days, photos from all work days, etc. We post all work days on Meetup.com and Facebook. As far as the Travis County, Reimers Ranch Flow Trail news, I declined to do a massive PR announcement because the obvious question is when is going to break ground, and we have no idea when that will be, because it's in the County's hands, not ours, although we're working with them on it. Yet, I still have been mentioning it online: https://www.facebook.com/nandocabanmendez/posts/10163158430215444?comment_id=10165615766840444 https://www.facebook.com/groups/austinmountainbiking/posts/1707939072748259/?comment_id=1707939656081534&reply_comment_id=1707965382745628 https://www.facebook.com/groups/austinmountainbiking/?multi_permalinks=1794864757389023&comment_id=1797344143807751¬if_id=1633876983471186¬if_t=feedback_reaction_generic&ref=notif Edited October 11, 2021 by cmc4130
AntonioGG
FWIW my company gives us 40 hours a year to volunteer and go do stuff. I am not one FB nor will I ever be back in it. If someone is in ARR FB and can cross post here for workdays I’m sure I can get 2-3 of us to go help. Thanks for all the work leading these efforts!

I did used to post trail work in the Trail Work section of this page but did not get any responses or turnout if I remember correctly. https://austinmountainbiking.com/index.php?/forum/20-trail-work/
mack_turtle
https://communityimpact.com/austin/lake-travis-westlake/environment/2021/12/06/travis-county-celebrates-purchase-of-more-than-3000-acres-for-conservation-in-the-hamilton-pool-road-area/ Not sure if this means access for even more trails out there, but it's a nice development. 2
Barry
That's good news for sure. And in more good news, it looks like major changes are underway for Hamilton Pool Rd, including shoulders on each side of the road. Hopefully this makes my ride-to-the-ride idea for Reimer's Ranch much more reasonable. https://www.newsradioklbj.com/austinlocalnews/txdot-to-break-ground-on-hamilton-pool-road-project/ Edited December 9, 2021 by Barry
The Tip
I cringe when I see a rider on Hamilton Pool Rd. Usually dressed in camouflage (asphalt colored kit). I figure they have a death wish. So a shoulder on it will be a live saver for real. Looking at the map of new lands I would guess that will not mean more trails.
