Chief
Ok so I guess this is the place for road/gravel riders. I've been doing some extensive miles on my gravel bike lately and really enjoying it. Currently riding a Kona Private Jake but just stumbled upon this damnit! Link. https://theradavist.com/2019/09/evils-new-gravel-bike-embodies-the-brands-rowdy-dna/ Edited September 30, 2019 by Chief

TheX
That Evil has some issues that need tended too, that frame needs a cutout for the rear tire..and we need a price.
bestbike85
Same bike as my other posts...for now. Salsa Journeyman Apex 1, with 700x43 and 650x48 wheelsets both running gravel king sk’s. Raced it this past weekend and got the itch for something faster. Looking at the Warbird and the Warroad. Those 415 stays on the Warroad got me really itching. Edited September 30, 2019 by bestbike85
TheX
I want something faster too, but my legs are 60 years old and been through a lot. Gotta be happy that I'm still out on two wheels.
mack_turtle
Traitor Crusade, Cowbell bar, TRP Hylex brakes, Arch EX rims, 38/16 gear, 35mm Gravelkings. This bike gets ridden everywhere I can find that's not too chunky. Fun on pavement, hardpack, and gravel paths.
TheX
Looking at the Shimano GRX bits to go back to drop bar. By time I get the bars, 1x11 levers, rear derailleur, cassette...should be able to use the calipers I have...I'm looking at probably $700+. An investment that I can never recoup, but I really want to do it.

If it makes you ride the bike more then that is the payback on investment.

Wish it was that easy in the eyes of the Mrs. It’s easier to pull my own teeth than to get her on board with me getting another bike.

Plus I got to keep the 40t for the MTB trails.
TheX
So, I can get the levers, rear derailleur, cassette, bars (24 degree flare) and two hose kits for $691.00 from Jenson. This is all GRX 600 and 800 series stuff. Let's do this!
TheX
The parts will be here by the 10th. CRAP, forgot to order the chain. LBS should have that.

TheX
That's the first part I'm doing. Thankfully I have 25 years worth of tools, stands, and parts so I should be able to get through most of it. Days like this are when I miss drinking.

Been a month without booze and it has its moments😁 Make sure that road cassette fits the hub on 3.30HD correctly, as chief just found out road cassettes are slightly wider than MTB causing the lock ring not to thread in. TheX
Be shame to have buy carbon wheels.
TheX
Wow, that sentence makes no sense at all... It would be a shame to have to buy some carbon wheels. That's better.
Chief
What cassette comes with the GRX group? Road cassette spacing is wider than MTB. I had to return a cassette and order this one which fits road or MTB. https://www.jensonusa.com/Shimano-CS-HG700-Cassette
