Kristian
Hi. I'm coming down for a conference in March in San Antonio. I'd like to dove tail 1 or 2 days of riding. Would you recommend I drive to Austin to ride? If we have 1 or 2 days, what trails would you recommend for an advanced rider? Thanks for helping narrow down the options! bestbike85
You’re in luck. Flat Rock Ranch is just 45 or so minutes north west of San Antonio in the town of Comfort and offers the best riding in all of Texas IMO. Plenty of trails for 1 day of riding, even enough to last 2 days.

Thanks for helping narrow down the options! Emma Long motocross park in north Austin has the most technical riding in the state. It’s my favorite trail to ride here. For a full day of riding, Spider Mountain or Reveille Peak Ranch are hard to beat.

natas1321
flat rock and city park/emma long both get my vote and are high on my must ride list.
mack_turtle
Are you bringing your own bike? McAllister Park, Leon Creek, and Salado Creek in San Antonio should keep you busy without leaving the city. Ifyou come to Austin, I'd get a guide to show you around Barton Creek Greenbelt. Austinbike.com has tons of info.

Austinbike.com has tons of info. If you come to Austin proper I can give you a greenbelt tour with all of the good stuff that you won't find if you are just meandering around on your own. If you are renting a bike I can meet you at the shop and shuttle you to the trailhead as well. Should be in town around that time. And yes, my site has plenty of info for both Austin and San Antonio. Bamwa
Madrone Trail at Canyon Lake is beautiful and closer to SA. If you come up to Austin a lap around Lake Georgetown, the Goodwater trail is an IMBA epic. That and City Park should be on your list. These three are really the most challenging and scenic in CenTex. Bring or rent a full susser for sure.
Teamsloan
The Barton Creek Greenbelt is Austin's crown gem of mountain bike trails. It's not the most technical. It's in the running for most scenic depending on what trails you are able to get to/find. But, for how close it is to town and easiest to access, it has a ton of mileage and plenty of tech features. It feels like backcountry riding but at any given time you're a 25min ride from BBQ, tacos, or pizza and craft beer. You can't loose with the BCGB. It always delivers.
