I found the slack head angle a bit tricky to get used to as well, with my new bike. I found that running a little lower tire pressure on the front made it less "twitchy"  and helped me getting use to the bike. As I rode it, I just kept increasing pressure until I was comfortable with the steering geometry. Just a thought.
