Can't say I've ever seen a good idea become a reality without thought.

And for sure I know that all properly functioning people hope... Especially when it comes to the matter of health and wellness of themselves and those close to them.

And hope... Well... It's just prayer spelled with an h, an o, a p, and an e.

But hey... Some stuff just goes over folk's heads.

Now see... I didn't bring up religion.

But for sure I am a Christian... Just as I know some others who participate on this website claim to be Christian.

And just as surely I know that many try to associate a person's claim of being a Christian with their negative thoughts towards them... And it is in no way surprising... Shoot, scripture even says this will happen.

It's just normal human nature... Some people just don't relate well to some other people (particularly others who expose their foolishness)... And some people need to justify to themselves why this is the case with these particular people. And the easiest way to do this is to find fault with the person they don't relate well with. It's not rocket science... But it is social psychology... Which is considered an empirical science... But also an art, it's claimed.

But I digress...

Back to the topic...

According to the dictionary definition... A "...jerk..." is "...a contemptibly obnoxious person...".

Ouch... That can surely hurt someone... With sensitive skin.

But let's take a close look at the matter...

Regarding the word "...contemptibly..."...

From the word "...contempt..."... Meaning... To despise, holding as vile or worthless.

That's certainly a strong word.

And "...obnoxious..."... Meaning... Odiously or disgustingly objectionable, highly offensive.

Again... Whoa... Another strong word.

So a "...jerk..." would be "...a contemptibly obnoxious person..."... Which is to say... Someone to despise and hold as vile or worthless, this person being odiously/disgustingly objectionable.

Whew...

That's some strong language, Bartman Whaa Whaa.

Stiil though...

On the matter of... Hope... You gotta admit... It certainly smacks of prayer... And all properly functioning people... Hope.

I wonder... What are your "...thoughts..." on it?

I attended church for over 30 years- evangelical, baptist, Episcopal, Mennonite, etc. I was baptized in my late 20s. my experience with Christians, especially the Evangelical types, is that many of them LOVE their illusions of persecution. they go out of their way to be annoying and then feign victimhood when they are called out for it. that kind of hypocrisy is what drove me away. the problem is that when you point out hypocrisy to a truly deluded hypocrite, they can't see it. they worship their self-pitying delusion above anything else. they are true idolaters in this sense.

RA- the more you dig in, the more you push people away from your faith. think about the damage you are doing and whether protecting your ego is worth it.

You come from a life working in the medical arena you know what the answer to your question is. This virus is only three months old, it is very new as a strain that infects people and because of that we have no immunity whatsoever to it. A virus that has never infected a human before is extremely dangerous not only due to the actual symptoms it creates but also the potential for the bodies immune system to over produce anti bodies or Cytokines creating what doctors refer to as Cytokine storm. The largest demographic of fatalities in the 1918 Spanish flu was healthy 19-25 year olds. They had healthy immune systems that went into overdrive when they contracted the virus causing them to die from their bodies response rather than from the flu itself. All because their bodies had never encountered a disease like it before. Be smart limit social contact as much as possible. The wife and I went out to dinner last night to a popular Austin restaurant that is usually very busy on a Saturday night, last night not so much. I discussed with the wife that this would be our last outing like that for a little while and that we should be smart and try to help slowing this thing down by "social distancing". My wife is also a hot yoga junkie and I explained to her that she's going to need to put that on pause for a little while. She was not happy about that. There is more to this than just the physical aspect, of course no one wants to die or see a family member or friend die but there is also the financial burden that something like this can create. Even with health insurance which I have none thanks to Obamacare it can create unsurmountable bills. Oh wait I forgot "everyone likes their health care and wants to keep it". This is just an example of why we need single payer healthcare. I know that's socialist talk, but the politicians have single payer healthcare provided by us through our tax dollars. The ultra wealthy don't give a f@ck about us. Bloomberg spent $500 million on a campaign that went nowhere, that's enough money to give each American 1.6 million dollars each. My hope for a good outcome from this virus is that it might help level the playing field a little bit. Viruses don't negotiate or care about money or for that matter toilet paper.

take a look at buddy insurance. It is designed for extreme sports. It is around 50/month and they are great supplemental for high deductible insurance. They cover physical therapy, ambulance rides etc. But they are mainly to cover deductibles and copays coming from acute accidents.  They specifically cover fractures, knee dislocations etc.

Also influenza and corona viruses die quickly in hot humid environments. I personally think hot yoga is fine if you keep your distance and people that are sick dont go.

Finally 500 million is about 1.50 to each american since there are 330 million americans.

Thanks for the insurance heads up👍

So far from what I'm gathering this coronavirus is pretty tenacious. This is from the CDC website. Sorry not CDC Harvard health.https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=4&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwjt6LDEzaboAhWBmeAKHQeMBkoQFjADegQIBBAB&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.health.harvard.edu%2Fdiseases-and-conditions%2Fcoronavirus-resource-center&usg=AOvVaw1Dxjj9snrsPcAt-fg2E11J

How long can the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 survive on surfaces?

A recent study found that the COVID-19 coronavirus can survive up to four hours on copper, up to 24 hours on cardboard, and up to two to three days on plastic and stainless steel. The researchers also found that this virus can hang out as droplets in the air for up to three hours before they fall. But most often they will fall more quickly.

There's a lot we still don't know, such as how different conditions, such as exposure to sunlight, heat, or cold, can affect these survival times.

As we learn more, continue to follow the CDC's recommendations for cleaning frequently touched surfaces and objects every day. These include counters, tabletops, doorknobs, bathroom fixtures, toilets, phones, keyboards, tablets, and bedside tables.

If surfaces are dirty, first clean them using a detergent and water, then disinfect them. A list of products suitable for use against COVID-19 is available here. This list has been pre-approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for use during the COVID-19 outbreak.

In addition, wash your hands for 20 seconds with soap and water after bringing in packages, or after trips to the grocery store or other places where you may have come into contact with infected surfaces.

Last but not least yes I realize that information is erroneous and apologize to the community.

Fun fact a doctor told me this morning: you cannot have the flu and coronavirus simultaneously.

Don’t kill the messenger as the messenger lays in bed with the flu and a 102.4 temp.

According to the Cleveland clinic, you CAN contract both the coronovirus and the Flu.  https://www.cleveland.com/coronavirus/2020/03/is-it-possible-to-catch-the-flu-and-coronavirus-at-the-same-time.html?outputType=amp

This is not a fact. If your body does mount an immune response to one it means the other might have a harder time to infect, but it is simply not true you cannot have them simultaneously. Coinfection is one way completely novel viruses arise. Their genomes have evolved to be able to mix and match during coinfection.

Look up the terms genetic drift and genetic shift.
