fontarin
Anyone know how well Madrone holds up to rain? Been ages since I was there. We're close this weekend and it looks like there was only 0.3 inches of rain last night and none earlier in the week.
ATXZJ
We were considering going there last weekend but did pedernales instead. Theres some areas that stay pretty muddy on the north side of the trail and but no way to know for sure as the ride reports on the trail apps are a few weeks old. If its wet, some of those rocks would be brutal out there. considering this but a bit of a drive for more of the same https://www.facebook.com/BanderaBike/ Edited November 9, 2018 by ATXZJ
natas1321
It's wet needs a day or two to be good, the ground is so saturated in areas it is having a hard time drying out. Sent from my HTC One M9 using Tapatalk
fontarin
Thanks! Looks like I'll just be taking the cross bike and exploring New Braunfels area while I'm down there.
natas1321
Madrone is dry with the exception of 2-3 spots that you can bypass easily. Warmed up nicely and made for a pleasant ride this morning. Sent from my HTC One M9 using Tapatalk
Albert
Rode Madrone two days ago, it was in great shape! A few wet spots, but overall it was nice and dry and pretty fast. Except for the parts that aren't fast because someone put rocks in the way. 😄 ..Al

Ridenfool
Got some Madrone last Friday afternoon. The 90+ temps kicked my butt, but the trail was as Madrone as always. There seemed to be a lot more "established" shortcuts and such that made following the actual trail tough at times. Hikers? This seemed to diminish significantly once I crossed the road. Like most places this year, it could use a trim in several spots thanks to the rain. It was a brutal ride, and I eventually chose to cut out a section at the road crossing after Ramp 18 where the trail goes on up to the Marina, then, got back on the trail at the Marina road to finish up. Just thinking of some of those sections along there by the boat storage and on up to the marina driveway was enough for me to concede defeat. Note to self: Save riding Madrone for when the temperature is no higher than 80. Edited June 5, 2019 by Ridenfool

natas1321
dry and dusty in parts, tacky in others could use another day to dry and will be good throughout the trails.

bestbike85
Anyone been out to Madrone recently? I’ve never been, but we’re goin to canyon lake in a couple weeks and I could get a 7am ride in before our day. Any tips for riding this one time? Best direction to go? Thanks for the help
natas1321
Been over a week but it was fine and should be alright if we get some sunshine in the near future. The trail is pretty easy to follow and goes in one direction. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
