mack_turtle
looking for a pair of brake levers for flat bars that work with short-pull brakes. this means conventional side-pull road brakes, cantilever brakes, or in my case TRP Spyres. There is a good chance that, if you have an old, clunky bike from the '90s or earlier lying around, you have brake levers that would work. shifter compatibility is irrelevant. if the levers have integrated shifters, and you don't mind me hacking them off, that's fine too. (I would just go to Yellow Bike but I just learned that their retail hours are still extremely limited. not really an option if they can only let me browse the place a few hours on Saturday afternoon.) Shinerider
Lemme dig thru my pile of offhand brake levers. Some might fit the bill. I have ridden ones with the shifter hacked off with no issue.
mack_turtle
thanks! I want to get back on my gravel bike, but riding a drop bar with the current condition of my left shoulder is a no-go until I make more progress with the physical therapist. I'm hoping putting a flat bar on it will work as a temporary fix, so I don't want to buy levers that I'll probably only use for a few weeks. I'm still looking for some levers for a different bike. I have this beater SS city bike that needs brakes and a freewheel to complete it. Edited November 18, 2021 by mack_turtle
