AustinBike
Russia is the second largest producer of Aluminum in the world. China is #1. With all of the existing supply chain issues, the potential for an impending aluminum shortage is real. It will probably take a month or two before we start to see shortages, but there has never been more precious commodities to stockpile at this point.
The Tip
China wants the war to go so they can absorb the business from all the things that Russia sells to the world. The Tip
And speaking of China and "canceling" a country like the world is doing to Russia...what do you think the world will do when China invades Taiwan? Stop buying things from them? Bwa ha ha ha ha ah! yeah, right.
AustinBike
Highly unlikely that China invades Taiwan. I've spent a lot of time in both countries. Xi is too smart and Taiwan is too strategic. The reason that Ukraine was invaded is that Putin is coming unhinged.
ATXZJ
Xi has bigger issues with russia fucking up his Belt and Road Initiative plans with this halfwit invasion. The news has been telling us for decades how scary the russians are and yet its always a shitshow when its go time. Im over all of this and ready to move out of the chaos and off the grid. fuck em. AustinBike
Yeah, I'd be more worried about Xi taking over infrastructure in Africa via Belt and Road than going after Taiwan. From a global trade perspective there is more benefit from Africa and at the rate that they are going, they will have a big chunk of it before too long. Brilliant strategy: loan money at really high rates to developing countries to build ports, airports, roads, infrastructure, etc. When they can't repay the loan, you take possession. Voila! You now have global trade paths around the world for a fraction of what it would have cost you because they did all the work for you. That is the long game for China, Taiwan is just an annoyance, like HKG at this point.
ATXZJ
Yes and controlling the available mineral resources in the African continent too. That's going to be key for the "green" economy. Chinese play the long game better than we'll ever know.
notyal
It seems like there should be more of a discount for buying beer in a refillable keg.
