mack_turtle
dusty as hell as of 8/22/18. Edited August 22, 2018 by mack_turtle
lord_devo
Partly snakey in the morning with a 40% chance of heatstroke in the afternoon.
joshuation
Traiks were either nice and tacky, or dusty yesterday. Rode my tourer on fatty slciks with no problems, although some of the shadier creek crossings were holding water. Rained overnight though so who knows? SouthieRider
Just rode from the Circle C dam over to the South Veloway trails and Mack Turtle loop. Only encountered a few small muddy spots along the way and the creek was dry. Also rode the brand new section of trail and really appreciate whoever did that for us!

Moc 5
Any chance any of the Southie Trails will be rideable by tomorrow afternoon?
SouthieRider
South/West bank trails off Slaughter Creek from Mo-Pac east down to the Veloway and Mack Turtle loop are good to go. South bank trails in Circle C park from Mo-Pac to the west boundary fence (soccer fields) include a lot of greasy areas that are no fun at all. Looks like some new rain might hit soon so things may change. Edited October 1, 2018 by SouthieRider
MrTheCatLady
Rode Slaughter Creek Trail this morning - the FB page announced last night that it was open. It shouldn't have been. It is 'way too muddy. It didn't quite get to the point where the wheels wouldn't turn, but it was pretty bad. I'd give it a few more days. -cls
Krishna
Anyone know if greenbelt is rideable through zilker Park with ACL going on?
SouthieRider
Just rode the north Veloway trails plus the Williamson Creek/Sunset Valley/Whirlpool Cave loop. 90% good although I did have to detour off trail in some sections that remain really waterlogged. Just last night Slaughter creek had flowing water at the crossings near the Veloway but today they were largely dry. Great day to ride! Also, the bum camp located behind Taco Bell near the William Cannon bridge over at Williamson Creek looks to be gone. All that remains are several dumpsters full of trash/junk. However, a new camp popped up under the Williamson Creek bridge at Mo-Pac near Randall's that comes complete with it's own trash and stolen grocery carts. Seems like we have more folks moving in since that murder happened at the I-35 & William Cannon camp a few months back.
taco_junkie
Good conditions tonight. A few wet spots under the bridges. Water is flowing under the Escarpment bridge and over at the soccer fields by fence line. Other than that the creek seemed dry. Maybe the rain holds up or misses us tomorrow and Thursday night is a thing that can happen.
Skyyhorn
Any Southies check this section and give updates? I've never been on the SATN, but I've been invited to potentially ride there this Saturday (depending on weather). I was going to check back tomorrow and see if anyone has a general trail report. I live way up north near Brushy Creek so any local reports are appreciated. Scott
taco_junkie
I haven't been on it in over a week but Strava comments suggest it was good yesterday. Took a very light rain this morning as I was leaving for work. Just enough to wet the surface. More in the forecast but I have fingers crossed for Saturday too.

I'll stay hopeful the forecast is wrong for today and tomorrow.....or at the very least it skips over some of the trails.
Skyyhorn
Well up north I think we had close to an inch or more. How did the south fair? I feel as this question is almost rhetorical since I’m asking about dry trails in the area.
taco_junkie
It sounded bad last night. The LCRA site says we received between a third and a half inch.

taco_junkie
Took a quick turn out behind the veloway after work. It's still wet in a few spots. Tomorrow is probably good.
taco_junkie
Only wet in a few mostly avoidable spots. Rock gardens are a toss up as either pretty good or slick as snot.
ATXZJ
Slaughter was AMAZING today. Super tacky dirt in the wooded areas but not enough to stick to your tires........the kind of weather and trail conditions we wait months for. taco_junkie
Strava comments are saying it should be mostly good with some wet spots today. Haven't been able out to check personally but I'm also curious. We got a lot of rain the other day.
