JRA
Picked this up Saturday morning and it was a perfect rainy weekend project. Stag Head M700 group was the precursor to the Deore Mountain line. The Deore stuff was around back then but only as a lightweight touring group set
Teamsloan
Cleaned up nicely! Now get some better tires on there... vintage of course.
JRA
Vintage tires are hard to come by and usually cost an arm and a leg if you can find them. Would look awesome with some Farmer Johns, Snakebellies, Schwinn Maximizers.

AntonioGG
Wow! That's very nice! I love the handlebars. What's the wheelbase on it? Looks like a really slack head tube angle plus lots of trail and pretty long chain stays. How does it ride?

JRA
WB is 43.25", rear end is 18,25, frame is a large. It's pretty cool to pedal around, the M700 shifters are the smoothest friction shifters I've ever felt, rides really nice like an old steel frame should, but it is a Cadillac, like an old one with a tired big block and drum brakes and a janky transmission. Way more fun to look at than ride.
eporter68
Oh the memories of those pedals destroying my shins back in the day. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
brentb
Beautiful! And I don't see any blood on the beartraps.
Teamsloan
How'd you get the rust off the shifters? It looks like you put the whole bike in an ultra sonic parts cleaner.
JRA
The stuff on the shifters was old lube residue. A little BO on a rag and they wiped clean. Zep Big Orange is the shit. Works awesome on chains also. Edited April 10, 2019 by JRA
