Are you rocking all hardtails now?

You tell me what kind of ride you want to do, and I will show up....on some type of hardtail because that’s all I have as of right now. And I’m happy about it.

2nd new bike day in a month and it feels great.

I sold the big Norco 29er enduro sled because honestly it was way too much bike for what I like doing and I’ve decided I hate 29ers. That’s the 2nd time I’ve tried to force the 29er issue, and I’ll never do it again.

Took all the funds and sunk it into the purple Salsa Fargo and was shopping for a do it all 27.5 hardtail. Landed on a Diamondback Sync’r Carbon. Honestly, at full price it was a great build, but when it went 30% off it was a no brainer.

For the record number 2 on my list was the Nukeproof Scout 275.

Nice looking bike. I have steel hardtails but have always wondered about a carbon one.

How does the carbon do relative to steel?

I haven’t owned a Carbon hardtail until now either, so I’ll follow up on this in the coming weeks.

I landed on this bike due to its spec and the geometry numbers, which were almost identical to my old Scott scale 27.5+ hardtail. I looked back and enjoyed my time on that bike more than any other bike, so I was targeting something similar and this bike being carbon actually happened to be a by product of all the other things I was looking for, oddly enough.

I think I need some new tires. It’s hard to hell how much they’ve worn until you see some brand new Minions.

Are mountain bikes allowed on trails there now? Never thought they were. Having trouble finding anything official from TPWD.

We always went with the assumption that it was okay as long as no one noticed you.    I’ve never had anyone say anything about it, though it has been many years since I’ve ridden there.  It used to be the only nearby place to ride something other than limestone.  Speaking of which, in the mid 80s, about the time I was starting to ride, I was camping at Lost Maples State Park and ran into two guys on mountain bikes that had just ridden the loop trail.  They had just come from Enchanted Rock and said they had climbed the main rock on their bikes.  TPWD didn’t have a policy yet, or maybe they just poached it(?).

It's across the road on the trail approaching the park from the loop 360 direction

Oh that's Boatright if I remember correctly. We tried to route the EB through there with orange silverware years ago.....because the EB wasn't tough enough already.

Yes they are. I’ve asked before and the park rangers said they are allowed but not many people ride them because they are difficult so they don’t advertise them as bike trails. I think they’re worth doing a loop if you’re camping there.

My 4yo has been getting more and more endurance since ditching the training wheeels. She's gone on a few 2.5 miles rides now. To increase our range so we can both enjoy ourselves I Jerry-rigged a bike rack on our trailer. As a bonus we can also use the trailer as a stroller and go on some longer walks while the kids ride with us.

The 6yo is now hitting the trials really well. She's grown into the new bike quite a bit in the last few months.

I remember figuring out that I could slide the striderbike a certain way through the back handle of the chariot and take it along with us on rides. Little guy got to ride around town lake, and then we’d take a break and let him stride around on the pedestrian bridge. His first coasting was in the Parmer Events Center Garage on one of those rides.

Love the bike-sidecar-Mount!
