  1. Wow, if you haven't been out to Suburban Ninja for a while like me, you're in for a surprise with all the new trail. Cafeend gave me a tour yesterday and by the end, we couldn't even figure out how we made it back to the main trail. So freaking cool!

Get out there and get lost, you'll be glad you did!

Stop at The Peddler bike shop and give them some thanks. It's so awesome we have something like this in our backyard.

It seems confusing but really all the other trails are either a loop back to where it started or you come out real close to where you started.

  2. So I got to ride all of Deception for first time in awhile. It really needs a good haircut. I'll try and do bits here and there when I can. But if anyone feels froggy and wants to help just take a pair of loppers or hand saw and have at it. I know there is semi downed tree on the beginning of Double Down. I'll get that done soon.

  3. Hoping to hear Peddlers is going to be ridable by the late afternoon so I can take my kids there. We rode yesterday before the rains came and they had the time of their lives. My youngest (6) said it was the most fun he ever had. I think Peddlers pass is what hooks my kids on mountain biking.
    Love hearing this.

  4. Went out this AM . Bailed on Picnic. Went to East entrance of 1/4 and bailed.
Rode over to Snow White and bailed. So rode the concrete instead.
Every trail left my tires caked but didnt exactly rut the trail but caked me up bad enough to have to turn around

I rode 1/4 Notch last night. Everything was 99 percent good. Just a few spots that were soft here and there.

  5. As a person with a education and professional background in newspaper journalism, that whole thing reeks of fake news. I admit my own bias, but sources matter. Every source is subject to some bias because they are human, but some are worse than others.
Hot take: Rightwing fake news is more prevalent than left-wing fake news because more conservative audience leans older and less inclined to engage in critical thinking.
Are you admitting to be biased against older people?

  6. Ditto.  I can't believe I never considered the straight up approach but will try that next time.
The key is indeed straight up. You need to get a good burst upto the first ledge and try and be as light as possible up to the second ledge. Then place front tire on face of second ledge and as long as your momentum is good you just shift weight and lunge hips to bars and stand up and pedal out. Simple right?

  7. I keep seeing references to Sponge Bob, does someone have a picture of this feature on 1/4 notch. I'm pretty sure I know the area, but want to make sure.

So it's a double ledge. The top ledge is limestone with lots of holes and sharp edges. Looks like a sponge. Similar limestone to LGT if familiar. Going East to West it is a drop so to speak ...the approach is slight uphill with a near about 90 ish turn at the top. It used to be a true 90 but we re routed to swing out wider for lime of sight and huck-a-bility.

  8. I got smoked like a joint today! Haha

it was fun and a super cool event but that ultra twisty XC terrain killed me. Lol.

Gotta come ride it when the trail actually hooks up. Had a great time at the race even though I put down my worst times ever. I tried riding it how i know it can be ridden and that was killing me. The tandem race was fun as hell though!

  9. Let me get this straight. Are we proposing building a fence in a park to keep people out of public land? That sounds like a last resort type tactic.

I agree that putting in a cedar fence there won’t stop everyone (just ask BCP what kind of fence that takes) but i think it’s a start. Why not put up a map and sign and start educating people? People that want to ride regardless of the chain or fence are going to be hard to stop. Let’s focus on the ones that just don’t know or understand why they shouldn’t ride wet trails. That seems more productive IMO.

I dont disagree but simple fence will stop a ton of people from just making a mess of that area. It would be a natural resource Cedar post fence. Not like a yard Cedar fence. It has worked just fine along the BCRT picnic areas. Majority of people respect it and will go where the sign posted on the fence says to go. The goal is to be simple for Ronan right when the trail needs to be closed. Having four chains to hang isnt simple. Having 1 or 2 is. That's why I feel a simple fence will mostly work. Have you ever stopped and looked at that one open area by ball fields. There are beaten paths all over the place. It wont take but another year or so with popularity increasing to have a tangle of beaten paths from people entering in freely.

  10. Is there anyone that can hang the chain across the entrance to Peddlers Pass this morning? I can't get to it until later today. With all the rain last night anyone that rides the trail will create ruts. With only 5 more building days before the race, the last thing we need is to spend our time fixing ruts. Thanks.
*Endurarace is taking care of hanging the chain. Thanks
Unfortunately that ONE chain will only stop a few. IMO
We need to build a fence at a few spots. Particularly at the ridgeline access area. It's so wide open and people came in and out there. It would be hard to setup a chain there. We could do Cedar posts but with that area so wide people will just go around it. If there was a fence eliminating that area as an access point it would help. You can even post a map on tje fence with where the trailhead is etc.
